From the moment I stepped through the door and went upstairs to the tea room of Edith Anice at The Old Post Office, I felt instantly at home. A crackling wood burner cast a warm glow across the room, its gentle heat dancing off the rustic wooden tables and chairs. The interior is a masterclass in cosy charm—weathered beams overhead, mismatched chairs tucked under sturdy farmhouse tables, and little vase of fresh flowers on every table.
The homemade mushroom soup deserves its own standing ovation. Velvety smooth and deeply hearty, and it arrived piping hot in a chunky pottery bowl. Each spoonful was a comforting hug in soup form.
As for the toastie—an absolute triumph. Golden-brown bread gave way to layers of melted cheese, parma ham, and served with home made green tomato chutney. It was crisp on the outside, gooey on the inside, and altogether perfect.

We chose paninis, which came with crisps, leaves and cous-cous with a choice of dressings. We selected from a good choice of quality teas and finished with (thoroughly recommended) Home-baked Turkish Delight Brookie with strawberries and cream. All reasonably priced for the quality. Suggest booking ahead if the sun is out, so you won't be...
