So, I booked a table for two on the website, the confirmation and reservation we’re all confirmed. When I turned up I was greeted by the general manager, Someone who is not the friendliest of people, (as noted in some of these reviews here and on other review sites) he realised that I was related to a member of staff and tried to circumvent my reservation by signing me to a tiny circular two seater table in the bar? I tried to explain to him I had a reservation, by this time and after a minute of arguing I started to have an anxiety attack, knowing people were behind me I just left the queue in shock… There was no way two people can eat on this tiny circular pub table no bigger than a dartboard. I told my friend that the manager was not honouring the reservation? Possibly due to I was related to a staff member? Then after other guests said this was unacceptable the general manager said he would try and sort something out? By this time of the damage was done! I felt humiliated that because I was related to a staff member I was being treated somehow as a second rate customer? Maybe it was the discount that meant I should accept some sort of secondary treatment? I do not go there for a discount, and I usually pay between 75% and 100% to give back my discount to the staff via the tips. My friend turned up anyway and we all ended up eating in the bar, still not knowing why our reservation had been not honoured, then to make matters worse I didn’t get my second course? I believe the general manager was ratcheting up the situation. So I decided not to ask again for my second course, but to ask for my bill, when I received my bill I realised that my family staff member discount wasn’t applied, this happens a lot when the general manager is on duty and you always have to ask for your discount which is a little bit embarrassing, why should it be? Especially when you tip between 75 to 100% anyway! But on this occasion I was told that the general manager has decided that I would not be receiving a discount? Well he should’ve told me before I ordered? Because now I feel that I have been overcharged due to no second course? Something I would’ve overlooked if I had received a discount! I am considering a chargeback on my American Express! I still don’t know why he took this decision but I think it’s because he is spiteful and vindictive and just generally not very nice! Then when I remonstrated about this treatment he asked me to leave my table and accompany him outside to explain in private!?!? I told him that my friend was trusted and he could say whatever he liked here? The manager still declined, So not only had he humiliated me twice already? But he wanted me to go outside with him like a child with a teacher? I wasn’t about to be humiliated for a third time 🤬! Probably not a good idea because if I had of gone outside there is a good chance I may have been arrested. There was no excuse for this treatment, I have now lost all patience and I was really trying hard to maintain my dignity. As I was leaving the people on the next table in the bar also said l, and I quote “We overheard your plight, If it was us we would have walked out”, I thanked them for their support. I paid for my meal “full price”, the general manager looked smug, I have looked at some of the other reviews both on this site and other review sites and there are quite a few pertaining to the general manager so I don’t feel alone. I never had a problem with the last general manager! !!! Won’t return while general manager likes to impersonate...
Read moreWe recently moved to Little Chalfont and stopped at the Pomery while we waited for our sale to go through. It was just after 11 so we had a coffee. The manger was rude and abrupt. We thought maybe was just having a bad day. We’ve been back 3 times since and all the staff were lovely, friendly and attentive. However on every occasion the manger has been rude, unhelpful and abrupt. We drove there on a Sunday morning to book a table inside in the bar as we were planning to bring our dog with us later. Before we’d even said what time or where we’d like to sit we were told that they were fully booked. He then walked off. The member of staff apologised and booked us the table we wanted at the time we wanted. On another occasion we walked in for food and were told that they were fully booked and could not serve us. There was no offer of an alternative time and he walked off. The staff behind the bar apologised and suggested that we tried the pub down the road. We then tried to book a table outside on another occasion and again my wife was told by the manager that she couldn’t book a specific table on the terrace despite the fact that we’d been in previously and seen tables booked. I then once again drove to the restaurant and asked another member of staff who booked the table we requested. However when we arrived the manger refused to honour our booking, once again the other members off staff tried to help us and offered to serve the food on the grass area. This was overruled again by the manger who then went home. He is a tall thin man who I think is called Alex. He is the rudest person I have ever met in customer service. I feel sorry for the staff who have to work with him as they are all lovely, helpful and attentive. This is our local and we will return despite how rude the manager is. Hopefully he will improve his behaviour towards his customers...
Read moreWe went to Ego at the pomeroy for lunch today,we had a fantastic experience! The staff were all so friendly, including our waitress Susie. The service was also so quick too.The gluten free menu is fantastic you have so much choice of what to have, there is something for everyone including steak, paella, pasta, kebabs and meats.I went for the prix fixe menu as it and as Saturday and it’s a lot cheaper. It’s great value as 2 courses is £18.95 and 3 courses is £22.95.We went for the 3 course prix fixe menu,it was cheaper to have 3 courses on the prix fixe menu than it is for some mains. For starters I had the chicken liver and rosemary pate,it was so delicious and the bread was tasty and had a nice soft texture. Also I added olives to the side and they were delicious,I especially liked the ones where there were no stone. For mains I had the steak too,Got it medium. The steak was so tasty, juicy and tender.Probably one of the best steaks. The chips were also tasty and well cooked. For dessert I went for the strawberry and passion fruit Eton mess which was delicious ,it was so tasty, the crushed meringue, whipped cream and the sauce made the perfect Combo.I was eating my dessert and then noticed a huge scoop of passion fruit ice cream.I have never ever had passion fruit ice cream before,I liked it had an interesting flavour to it.The decor in here is so beautiful and the grounds are also lovely too, would love to come back in the summer. The restaurant and toilets were really clean as well.It was such a lovely restaurant and would definitely come back again, hopefully in the summer or for a roast. What’s even better is when you join the ego club you can get 20% off your next visit if terms and conditions apply.I would recommend booking in advance to avoid...
