We'd brought our own lunch, but we thought we'd get some cakes afterwards at this cafe. We realised it would be unfair to eat our lunch (purchased elsewhere) on the outside dining tables, so we didn't do that, instead we sat right at the edge of this area on the side of the lake. We didn't want to sit further away so we could see our tandem bike we arrived on.

We were asked to move anyway, I said that we were intending to buy some cakes but the member of staff was not interested in hearing that and walked away as I said it. We walked across the bridge (south-east) and ate our lunch there, a whole 50ft from where we were sat.

It seemed rather petty, I thought it was pretty obvious we weren't taking liberties by eating lunch on their outdoor furniture. We got our...

Found this absolute gem after a beautiful forest lakeside walk. So much care and attention to the property with new furniture inside and out. Food was delicious and fresh, I opted for an egg and bacon roll which came in the most wonderfully textured bread and a cherry tray bake cake slice. Menu isn't extensive but had most tastes covered. Coffee was very high standard. We gave a lengthy order which was delivered to our outside table in a very timely manner. I didn't get the name of the owners but they said they had only owned it for 4 weeks. Their care for their guests is obvious. I will be sure to return and would recommend to anyone...

Can't comment on the food or service as we didn't visit in the end due to feeling horribly judged.

If the owners are the same people that own the car park the male is incredibly rude and patronising, shouting across the car park to move on despite paying for parking and the carpark not closing till 5.30. this was at 5.05pm.

If this is not the case and the car park is different owners, please let me know and I shall...

Fantastic little cafe on Esthwaite Water. Food is lovely and great value. The staff are friendly and attentive. The view at the outside seating area is simply stunning. It's very quiet and peaceful. A perfect stop of you are heading past Windermere on the Hawkshead side. There is also a toasty fire inside the cafe, with a viewing window of the lake - for rainy days at the Lakes. Perfect!

A hidden gem. Such breathtaking scenery around here. A very tranquil lake, fresh air and the Boathouse serves delicious hot drinks and food. The hot chocolate was loaded with marshmallow sprinkles, a fabulous treat! And the carrot cake tasted like heaven on air - the best homemade cake, so fluffy and tasty! Highly recommended ⭐️

What a lovely little cafe! Came when it was pouring down; the log fire made it incredibly toasty and the service was so friendly. The view of the lake from the main window is breathtaking, and the best hot chocolate I've ever had! Tricky to find but does have some parking, well worth a visit!
