A really friendly cafe with great service and delicious food. We came here twice for breakfast whilst staying in Porthallow because the food was so tasty. I had the vegetarian breakfast, which was cooked perfectly, had creative ingredients and was just the right amount of food (it didn’t tip me over into being uncomfortably full). Sautéed potatoes, mushrooms, beans, a tomatoey bean stew, fried apples, egg, a very tasty cheesy tart (the second time was a frittata) and a tomato. It also came with a delicious pot of walnuts, goats cheese and sundried tomatoes which I really enjoyed. My dining companions enjoyed the full English and a lighter breakfast of toast, fruit and yoghurt. It seemed a very friendly place with nice staff. Do book ahead as it seems to get busy quickly and space is limited.

In the heart of the forest lyes a quiet nest where a chorus of birds wakes you up. Fat apple camp site is green, spacious, right on the coastal path, away from the crowd & walking distance from a cosy pebble beach. Cherry on the cake: the family's running the site serves you freshly cooked breakfast,  lunch & tea  with locally sourced ingredients from their cosy café - The Fat Apple Café. Thank you Ed for your friendliness & chillout attitude. Thanks Phoebe for your flexibility & smiles. Thanks to head  Chef Jacci & Chef Hector for your yummy & colourful menu with unique combinations of flavours. See you next year for the 40 years anniversary of Living Movement.  Coralie, Léa & Sabin (July 2023)

I knew this was here, but south of the Helford is a bit of a trek from where I stay and the lanes are not conducive to busy periods. But, Fat Apples Cafe was worth the drive. 100% The food was really delicious, and very well presented. Our main courses (a crab sandwich and a cheese and chutney sandwich) came with an array of delicious salads and some sauteed potatoes. The desserts were equally good. I am adding this place to my "reasons to go south of the Helford" list (also included: Roskillys). Be warned that this place seems pretty popular, rightly so, but has fairly limited parking. It'll take 10 or so cars. There's indoor seating and plenty of outdoor tables, some of which are covered.
