5 weeks on the road in the motorhome and I didnāt fancy cooking my evening meal. Found myself not far from Kirkoswald, a quick Google and the Fetherston Arms sounded good for a visit and food. I received a lovely warm welcome and despite the tables being fully booked the landlady very kindly found me and my dog a table. The locals were also very friendly and they all recommended the food as being excellent. I ordered the Black pudding and Haggis tower for starters and the trio of sausages with mustard mash for main course. The starter was delicious and quite a large portion, great value for money. The main was also extremely tasty, Iād have preferred a bit more mustard in the mash, but Iām being picky, the meal was excellent. A lovely atmosphere in the pub, and I could have happily stayed all evening drinking and chatting more with the locals, but I needed to find somewhere to park up in the motorhome for the night, parking in the village is a bit of a nightmare. I highly recommend The Fetherston Arms Hotel and would gladly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Feathers has a fantastic reputation locally and itās richly deserved. I am a Steak lover and have had lots of steaks at lots of local restaurants in the Penrith area and I can say, without a shadow of doubt, that this is the BEST Steak available around the area. Good size, cooked exactly to my liking, came with chunky chips, peppercorn sauce, onion rings, mushroom and tomato. My wife had a Sunday roast Beef dinner, one daughter roast Lamb and the other chicken nuggets and chips, it was all delicious and perfect. The venue is very nice, spaciously laid-out and impeccably clean, good atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. We had desserts, teas and coffees and the bill came to Ā£75.20. We were more than happy to round it up to Ā£82.50, the experience more than deserved a generous tip. Great work, well done and thank you. Weāll see you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't think of a better all round pub than the Fetherston Arms. The food is of a very high standard and hits the table piping hot. Not microwave hot, properly cooked through hot. The food is obviously freshly cooked just before delivery to the table, not prepared in advance and kept in a hot plate.
The portions are generous without being over facing and the presentation is really good as well .
Service from entering the pub, throughout the whole dining experience is great without being intrusive, and did not feel like a bored, routine approach.
The pies are the star for me, but there are many excellent dishes across the menu.
The only challenge in Kirk Oswald is parking, but do not let that put you off. Make the effort to visit, you...
