For the love of wine. More like for the love of god.
We went here as a group of 13 to celebrate a birthday for the prosecco bottomless brunch. We were given a 2 hour timeslot and had to pay a deposit, both very reasonable and expected things. We arrived, had some drinks (prosecco for most and soft drinks for the designated drivers), and then the sharing boards were brought out 2 between the 13 of us. The sharing platter had about 10 crumbs of bread and 4 small crackers, a slither of 5 cheeses, a couple of grapes and a couple of crisps. Between 2 or 3 this may have been fine but between 6 is definitely wasn't! The prosecco itself tasted and looked cheap, definitely not what we were anticipating. After this we were offered the menu to look at the desserts. Upon looking at this we were mortified to see we could have had a panini or salad or afternoon tea instead of a small disappointing 'platter'. Of course we ordered cakes even though most weren't available and they shortly arrived at the table. One glass accidently got smashed on the table which happened to land on someone's slice of cake. When we explained what happened to the staff, she took the cake away and said 'I'll ask' in response to us asking for a new piece. Luckily she did come out with a fresh non glass contaminated slice. We had just finished our cakes to have the bill slammed on the table and told we had 10 minutes to pay and leave due to a private function. Our designated responsable adult of the group went to pay it where a few issues arised. Originally we were supposed to have 16 people but 3 had to back out which we made aware to the staff a couple days prior. When paying we were told not the full deposit was taken off the rest of the bill because 3 people hadn't shown up and they were not made aware prior. Of course we disputed this and they agreed to correct the bill accordingly. We ended up paying £35 each and the cost of our desserts which was a rip off for the service, tiny platter, quality of prosecco, and especially for the non alcoholic drinkers. Throughout our time there the lady tending to our table was very abrupt and quite frankly rude which added to our disappointing experience overall.
None of us will be returning and we will certainly not be recommending it to others. Such a shame being such a local place which could potentially be an ideal weekend acticity with friends.
Avoid this place at all costs, it is not worth the disappointment...
Read moreLovely visit, the cheeseboard was great and full of flavour! However, we were after a certain wine on the menu which we pointed at and thought we were going to be having; only to find out when the bill came that it was a different wine we were given that was £12 more expensive. Wasn't too impressed about that I have to say as felt we were a little cheated, but what could we do? We didn't realise the wine we'd been given was a more expensive one until we received our bill. I did quibble it with the waitress who told me it was the £39 wine, but that was most definitely not what we wanted but in-fact a £27 wine near the top of the list. So my only word of advice would be to double check and make sure the wine you're given is in fact the one you have asked for, as would not like anyone else to have a similar experience.
Other than this issue, I have still given the place four stars as I hope it was an honest mistake and miscommunication on their part. The food itself was great and the ambience of the place is nice. Staff are friendly but like say, the bill issue did put a slight dampener...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe prebooked a table which was outside as inside was full. It was raining and I think they thought we'd not turn up as the table was not ready when we arrived - the umbrella was down everything was wet. We were offered a table inside for a short time before the next group came. The drinks were good and the serving staff friendly. However once our time was up we had to go to the outside table - attempt had been made to dry the seats and the umbrella was up but the promised blankets and heaters were no where in sight (we were told they would be when booked). It was badly lit outside. In short visit if you get a table inside otherwise if it's dark or wet...
