Absolutely gob smacked at the service from the manager or part time manager (Amie)a place we have brought all the family too several times a weeks for many years.walked in the door to a virtually empty pub and was greeted by Amie,at the sign where it says please wait to be seated, and asked what can I do for you. 2 seats please I said, she walked in front with a bit of a march on and pointed at the tiny table and before we had chance to say please thanks or anything, she turns and walks away and grunted, your welcome and laughed at me and my wife.we looked at each other in amazement, and both decided that it will be the last time eating or meeting up with family in there, I asked her why she said that and she admitted it straight to my face and said we’ll there’s no point in me denying it is there, I said but why did you speak to us like that when we did nothing wrong but asked for 2 seats please, she said we it come across as quite abrupt, I said what asking for 2 seats please.she told me,well that’s how I took it,so if you don’t want to eat in here anymore that’s fine, goodbye, have a nice day. That is word for word how it went. The lady with the dyed white hair was very rude straight away when I first asked to speak to the manager. Whoever owns the business, you might have problems getting staff and that’s why she’s there, but in the long run, it’s going to lose the pub thousands of pounds in customers lost with the way they are treating people in there. That’s a family of 4 eating their at least twice a week lost and a family gathering of between 10 & 15 a week the fox won’t be getting, all because of that experience that was...

As it was a Sunday we all opted for a Sunday Lunch, eight in total. The first five dishes were, Beef, Chicken and three Turkeys with the additional extra items and then the other three were chicken dinners.
We found several issues with the items of each meal.
The chicken was dry due to over heating after cooking. The skin was soft and limp.
The Yorkshire puddings were all soft and flat as though they had been warmed in a microwave.
The stuffing was two small blocks about the size of a 10x10x10mm cube and was as hard as rock.
The cabbage came with more of the hard crown than cabbage leaves. Who ever made that decisions should not call themselves a chef as I have never in my entire life served or had been served the hard centre of a cabbage.
The red cabbage was salad cabbage as you could taste the sharpness of the vinegar. Not something I would expect of a Sunday roast.
The mash potatoe had a kind of skin on the top of it.
The roast potatoes were soft and when you attempted to pierce them with the cutlery, they just sank and caved in as they were all soft on the outside. They also had the taste that potatoes have when they have been cooked again after a precook time.
There was not enough gravy in each boat to cover the individual meal it was served with.
We highlighted the issues to a male member of the serving staff several times.
We were not spoken to by a manager and nor were we offered any alternative.
As we had a lengthy wait for our meals and one of the party suffers with hypoglycaemia, we had no choice but to eat the dinners.
We were all very very disappointed in the poor quality of...
Read moreWe arrived at the largely empty restaurant at 5.20, having booked a table for four on a weekday evening. We asked if it would be possible to be seated at a particular table but were immediately dismissed by the seater because all the tables in the restaurant were apparently booked. This seemed a little churlish, since there were several four seater tables to choose from, all in the same area, but we accepted the seater's choice anyway. The food was lovely and the service was good, but we remained in the restaurant until 6.45 and couldn't help but notice that the table we requested, as well as three other four seaters, remained empty in our section for the duration of our visit. Since tables are booked on the system for an hour amd a half, it put rather a dampener on the evening to learn that the seater had simply been unwilling to facilitate such a small request at the start of our visit. We enjoy the food here and it's become something of a tradition to visit for celebrations in the family, so I'm hopeful this downturn in service...
