Booked a room at the premier inn for the night as going to longleat safari. Decided to have food onsite as had spent 3 and 1/2 hours driving and didn’t feel like travelling for food. Had a booking for 19.00 arrived at 18.50 the restaurant was really busy so didn’t mind waiting 15 minutes to be seated. Got seated, our drinks order was taken straight away. We had seen online that they do an evening set menu 3 courses for £18.99, however they no longer do this. Ordered our food. 30 minutes had gone by and no drinks, but a table behind us had been seated after us, ordered their food and drinks and received their drinks 10 minutes after ordering them and we were still waiting for ours 30 minutes later. Asked a waiter about our drinks, waiter was short and rude towards us and said there was one person on the bar and drinks will arrive when they arrive and walked off before we could say anything. We could see the bar where we were sitting, and there were 4 people working on the bar. Food came before our drinks and drinks finally arrived 45 minutes after ordering them. We understood that it was busy and there was a big table of 12 sat behind us. We ordered the prawn skewers and the bacon burger, the prawns and chips were cold and the burger was small and not worth the £18 is priced at. Ordered one of the refillable drinks the glass was small and they fill it up for you. As it was impossible to get or find anyone during our meal this only got filled up once and was a waste of money. The big table left around 20.15 and all the waiting staff disappeared, got asked if we wanted dessert we said yes. Took 30 minutes for someone to come and take our dessert order by this time the restaurant was quiet and the waiting staff were more busy in setting the tables for breakfast and not tending to the people still in the restaurant. After we had our dessert it was 21.30 and I asked for the bill, was told that the waitress who had been dealing with us would need to do this, she was no where to be found but was told someone would go and find her. Waited 20 minutes and still no sign. I asked someone else for the bill and was told the same thing, I explained that I asked 20 minutes ago for the bill and was still waiting. My bill was given to me. Couldn’t give me a receipt as had no paper anywhere. The food in general was okay, I did think it was a little over priced for what we got. The service from the staff was just awful, I appreciate that it was busy when we first arrived but even when it got quiet the waiting staff were no where to be found. We didn’t leave the restaurant until 22.00 cause of how long it look to be severed. We did have breakfast booked for the next day however we canceled our booking and went else where due to the poor service we had received. I also noticed that other guests in the same section were experiencing the same thing, I over heard one couple talking about how long they had been waiting for someone to take their order they entered the restaurant at 20.30 and...

Today's review
We booked a table in advance for an evening meal. We were taken to a table right in front of the kitchen & another server /office. We ordered our drinks straight away, it took 20 minutes for these to arrive at our table. Our table was virtually next to the bar and it was only when we went to the bar to ask where they were did we get them. At this point no waiter had been back to our table. I did then see the lady who had seated us twenty minutes earlier to ask for a better table away from the kitchen. I was told we couldn't sit in the nice area with quiet comfy area with nice seating as she "didn't have a team to cover that area". I did then ask why she was allowing the worse tables by the kitchen instead of the nice area, she just walked off. The area we were seating in had a table for four empty away from the kitchen the entire time we were there. Others were seating in this area so there was no reason for us not to be moved to a more comfortable table away from the kitchen. Listening to a working kitchen is bad enough when trying to have an enjoyable evening and listening to staff arguing was not what we envisaged for our night out. None of this would have affected our experience if we had been offered any of the other empty nearby tables away from the kitchen. The Festive menu was to be frank very disappointing. The stuffing was burnt to a black lump. The pig in blanket looked like it had been under a heat lamp for hours resulting in it being hard & dry. The rest was ok.
In conclusion if I wasn't out with friends for a meal out I would have left when the drinks didn't arrive after 20 minutes. The place wasn't that busy, the staff were just young people with I assume had hardly any training & certainly in no hurry whatsoever to do a good job. Such a shame as last year it was a different story. One final point the festival menu this year is £4 more, yes that's £4 more per person ! So we paid an extra £16.00 more this year for the same meal but a much worse experience . The only positive thing I can comment on was our waiter Sam. He seemed the only person who knew what he was doing. He was polite & efficient something the other staff could learn from. I would no longer recommend this place.
Review 2017 Nice friendly staff. The waitress was working very hard to manage all her tables. The food arrived quickly & was delicious. We chose the 2 course Christmas menu which was excellent value at...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling, RUDE staff. We stayed in the Premier Inn next door, and on the first night of our stay went to eat here. The restaraunt was very busy, with not enough staff to serve everyone. Our table had dirty plates and glasses on it which we had to clear ourselves, when asked if the table could be cleaned, the bar maid handed my friend a cloth to wipe it ourselves. We were told by people sat at the table next to us that there was a crew of 400+ eating there as they were filming nearby. The resteraunt was fully booked and so surely they should have been able to recognise that it was going to be a busy evening and to get extra staff; apparently not. Our food did not come out together, with the adult meals arriving significantly before the childrens meals. This meant that there were three hungry children sat without any food. I queued at the bar (significant wait) to chase this up and was told that food wouldn't be long. We then sat down and waited but the food still did not come. I asked a member of staff who walked past where the rest of our food was, only to be told very rudely and curtly to go and enquire at the bar. Following a further wait, I went to chase the food up again only to be told that the rude man was in fact the manager. He told us that they were busy and that the food is still being made: by now the adults had finished our meals and the children were getting really inpatient and wanted their food. When the food came, the burger my son ordered was undercooked but by this point we had enough, so left and got them a mcdonalds. As part of our booking we had paid for breakfast and had a similiar experience from rude staff the following morning when we went down for breakfast. When we checked in next door, we booked a 9am breakfast slot, we gave our room numbers to the waitress only to be quizzed as to whether we had booked: the restaraunt was virtually empty and we could see our room numbers on her list in front of her. We explained we had booked a 9 am slot, only to be challenged further, "but have you booked a table", which we replied well presumabley, which was followed by an eye roll from the rude waitress who took us to our table. After we left she called after us, "thank you", in a sarcastic tone. Seriously rude staff with a massive attitude problem, i would not recommend anyone staying at the Premier Inn...
