As the weather has been so poor, this was our first visit this year and will also be our last. Experienced bar staff have bee ln replaced by kids who have poor customer service skills, struggle take a food order or count cash! Meals arrived in reasonable time but were missing items listed on the menu. It took ages waiting at the bar to get this corrected, by which time the food was going cold. The ordered salad was not fresh, with brown, slimy leaves and when this was pointed out to the manager, along with the missing items, she couldn't have been less iinterested.A refund for one meal was made, but this was done without grace. This is such a shame as we've eaten here many times and always enjoyed it, but something has changed and it's not for good.
UPDATED FEBRUARY 2025. Visted on a miserable evening in February after a long break, and delighted to find that things appear to have been restored to the previous level. We were welcomed and seated quickly and by a friendly female member of staff. Meals were chosen and delivered piping hot after only a short wait. The steak and ale pie was delicious with chunky chips and the two different burgers were fresh and juicy. A welcome winter return to one of our favourite...

Had to carry drinks on a tray from bar to beer garden outside....as i nervously walk along uneven floor and up / steps with wedge shoes on...U I accidentally lost 1 pt on the way. Got the dirtiest look from the waitress who just walked past me without offing help. I returned to the bar to ask for help. Waitress only brought 2 drinks! Was happy to pay for my loss but literally just had to ask to order a fresh drink. I was with my elderly parents on their wedding anniversary today unbeknown to the waitress. Then she proceeded to talk about us to one of her customers which was so rude. Kalma played a part. She also dropped a glass but rather than quickly brush that up....she took at least 20 mins which placed the little girl and dogs who were enjoying the sun at risk of injury. They need to check their own safety policy around liabilities which is clearly displayed in the beer garden telling customers any accidents are at their own risk! At least keep the area safe Golden Fleece! Can't say we'll be...
Read moreScore: 66 This particular establishment suffers somewhat due to its front door being 0.8 metres away from a busy village road. However, it is deceiving from the exterior how spacious the garden actually is. With it's six concrete steps and thick grass surface, we would imagine it being somewhat challenging for even the most capable of wheelchair users to venture up and then enjoy its seemingly inaccessible outdoor area. Due to it's greenery this naturally enclosed beer garden gives a pleasant environment complemented by canal views, with optimum viewing attained from the canal side wicker-ette stools. Tom & Al were quite impressed with the price of standard chips at £1.49 and the golden fleece secures a respectable 66/100.
