Oh my word, what a lovely gem of a place Sextons is! We were in Lymm a couple of weeks ago on a specific trip to collect an order from one of the other little shops in the village. My brother asked if I wouldn’t mind popping in Sextons, for some of his favourite cakes for him while I was there. We ended up eating in and each having a very reasonably priced, top notch full English, very tasty coffee and came home with a couple of boxes of the most stunning homemade cakes you’ll find anywhere! The staff were so super friendly, especially Sarah the owner and Gail who served us. The choice combinations of excellent food are endless. If it’s not in the board but they’ve got it, they’ll do a concoction for you! Nothing was too much trouble and their customer service excelled on every level. We loved the place so much, we went back yesterday afternoon with our grandchildren, one of whom is vegan and readily catered for and our dogs who were also welcome. The extensive array of freshly baked breads are amazing! If you happen to be passing through this neck of the woods, this little bakery/cafe/deli/ice cream parlour. . . You name it, they do it all, with the most friendly and accommodating staff, is a must to try and also very rare to find these days. We’ll definitely be back...

Read moreHad a sausage roll and apple Danish, and they were both delicious, but we went to sit down with them and as soon as I took a bite a woman appeared to ask of everything was OK and proceeded to say if we eat in we'll have to pay extra VAT on the food as it had already been added to the drinks. I was like that's fine we'll leave then, to which she said no because we'd already started eating. I understand that some places you have to pay extra to sit in but that hadn't been made clear at any point. I'm already a little annoyed that the drinks had been charged extra to sit in, as they were in takeaway cups and we weren't asked whether we wanted to sit in - as the rules were not specified. But to then wait till I'd taken a bite out of a sausage roll to try and charge me more - just no. Charge me what it costs and...
