Lovely cafe! We got caught in one of the lake Districts famous downpours but the lovely coffee and friendly staff warmed us right up! The Grange cafe is a lovely little cafe in Borrowdale which is roughly 6 miles from Keswick and you can get there easily if you're walking around derwentwater water and use it as a half way point! We didn't eat but they've got a lovely little food menu and local art, honey, Jams and loads of drinks to order! They have alternative milks to choose from! If you're in the area across the cafe is a lovely little church which is well worth a look inside!

We stopped here as a midway point on our drive around Derwent Water. We were told by another traveller to try the ginger cake, warmed with ice cream and maple drizzle. I also ordered some tea and hot chocolate. It was all delicious! They had a nice menu in addition to the cakes. There are specific times for serving breakfast (10-11:45), lunch (12-3), and they close promptly at 5. My kids also enjoyed a splash in the river just round the corner.

Didn't stop for food but for liquid refreshment (beer) after a day on the hill. (Can't give rating for food) Plenty of walkers and tourists passing through but not overcrowded or annoying. Nice vibe, quiet village in the sun. Food and ice cream looks gooood! I can say, with hand on heart, they had the best beer in the area. Cans/fridge. No cask/keg but no problem. A local-ish beer too. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. I liked it a lot.

Popped in here for a takeaway coffee a few times this summer so far, each time a latte, each time the milk has been vastly over stretched, like taken way to far. On the second occasion, I returned the coffee and explained that the milk is over stretched. Lady behind the counter had no idea what I meant. This tells me one thing, no one here knows coffee. It's a business, not a cafe. They don't care about serving quality coffee, they just care about selling it to you. Lady offered to redo it and she was polite enough about it but since she doesn't know how it was done wrong in the first place, of course I'm going to get the same coffee again and I did.

I'll give a star or two for the food because on my last visit, I ordered a sausage sandwich and it was gorgeous. Credit where credit's due. Maybe this place is as popular as it is because the food is nice but I've got no room in my life for a cafe that can't get the...

Re-review of The Grange CafĂ© If it hadn’t been for the owner’s thoughtful reply to my last review, I probably wouldn’t have returned—mainly because of the “No Dogs” sign. I’m pleased to say that dogs are allowed inside long enough to place an order, just not to sit indoors. Given the café’s limited space, that’s completely understandable.

The outdoor seating area is lovely, with a welcoming atmosphere. Staff were kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful. That said, I do wonder how much custom they miss from solo travellers with dogs who, seeing the sign, simply walk away. A clearer sign explaining the policy might help both customers and the business.

As for the food—absolutely top-notch. It tastes fresh and seems to be locally sourced, which is always a bonus. Now that I know the dog policy, I’ll definitely...

Shocking treatment of the disabled. A group of 16 of us arrived at the cafe. One in our party suffers from Chrons disease, and has an NHS Can't Wait card, describing his symptoms and his need to make urgent use of the toilet facilities when the symptoms flare up. This has never been a problem in any other establishment, apart from here. Upon our arrival he needed to make use of the facilities. He was refused. Aside from the discomfort, the embarrassment this caused was shocking. The rest of the group had been considering getting food and drinks here, as you can imagine this attitude made us think again. An opportunity missed.

A real shame as every other time he has had to use the card people have been more than accommodating. Letting the side down.

I'm sure the...
