The service was excellent, the young man who waited on us was attentive even whilst busy. I ordered the beef brisket with bruschetta starter and the missus ordered the vegetarian salt and pepper Halloumi starter and the vegetarian stir fry with quorn. I was pretty disappointed with my meal, the Yorkshire pudding you could tell was probably cooked hours ago and was dry the beef wasn’t what I’d call traditional brisket it was quite overly chewy and sliced rather than diced mash was nice but the carrots and parsnips tasted a bit odd, roasties were quite tough too. Bruschetta was nice but the bread wasn’t quite crunchy enough. I didn’t feel my meal was worth it purely because of the quality and really not what I was expecting, the gravy was also very bland. The stir fry was nice but slightly gritty, the halloumi starter was really nice and well prepared, chip’s portion was fair and they were decent. A good pint 🍺 drinks prices are fair but sides seem expensive £2 for a blob of coleslaw seems excessive. Venue was good and is clean, tidy a presentable with good parking and child friendly and there is outside seating with separate smoking area. Overall it was good but not exceptional theres many better eateries nearby.

I visited here on Thursday 24/7/25 With family 12 of us together 5 of us were from Belfast Ireland over for a family funeral have to say it is a beautiful restaurant staff made us all feel very welcome were very attentive very cosy and everywhere was so clean and tidy a very well run pub restaurant the pub grub was absolutely beautiful with a fantastic menu loads of options and a great gf menu especially catering for ppl with coeliac disease like myself I opted for the gf cheesy beans baked potato with salad and coleslaw which was well presented and cooked to perfection and the right temperature everyone lunch meal was delicious and again well presented Lovely outdoor space that we sat in after we had lunch as it was nice and sunny Will highly recommend this place to family back home and will definitely be back the next time I'm over for a visit

We loved this place. We went for a (nonalcoholic) drink at lunchtime, and we saw food being served and decided to have lunch as well. Excellent choice! I have a good portion of kofta, while Mr. H has a good size quesadilla. We were both very happy with it and the price is very affordable for a pub. However, later, I got to know that this place could be full of dogs. Because I am allergic to dogs, I am not sure whether I will be going back. Which is a pity because I really like the place, but it is too far out of our way to risk having an allergy attack.

After visiting the Hamilton Russel Arms several times prior to visiting today. I found it to be pleasant, good atmosohere, the food is fantastic and it always serves a good pint of lager. However on todays visit. We found it very quiet, almost too quiet. The pints were poor and the food wasnt great. 5 mains and 2 desserts a kids meal and 6 drinks costing over £100 was disapointing. It lacked the vibe of the last time we went. The staff seemed miserable compared with our last visits. We walked through into the bar which had nobody at it and a handful of people sat on the tables around it. We still waited to be served our beverages. We asked about our table we had booked to which they said we had not booked and to just find a table. We went to order our meals at the bar to be told we had to wait for the waiter at our table. 15 minutes later we managed to get a waiter over to take our order. 45 minutes later our food arrived. Very nice and hot food. Brisket is lovely in there, i would recommend it. The vegetarian menu is poor. We asked for several vegetarian dishes which "were no longer on the menu" which we found odd. The decor is very nice in there and fits in with its nice countryside setting. Lots of photos of wild animals and farm animals. Traditional wooden tables and chairs are aesthetically pleasing and reasonably comfortable. The decked area outside has some nice soft artificial grass covering it aswell. We as a family really enjoy the hamilton russell. But we think recently it is not up to the high standards that it was a few months ago. IF we decide to go there again within the next few weeks for our family meal out and find the experience similar to the last. We will not be returning for a third chance for them to prive thereselves. Overall a bit of a disappointment. The food is really good. The staff seem miserable. Parking is easy and practical. The pints arent as good as they were. And recently we think the standards have declined, however we would love to be proven wrong...

After being in this place a few times and getting amazing service and food I was sadly dissapointed on this visit. I booked a table over the phone and the table given was tucked away in a cove opposite the bar. At first I thought great, nice an private. But as time went by in dawned on me we had not been served for over half an hour so I went an placed my drinks order at the bar. 2x diet coke to arrive warm with no ice in wet dirty glasses. We where given no info regarding the menu, Ie.. Specials or unavailable items or even the soup for that matter. Any way I ordered my food when the waitress came over eventually. Garlic bread and aranchini to start

Plus large brisket and veggie enchiladas for my wife. I asked was the brisket cooked in a particular sauce as it can be a few different flavours and the waitress looked at me like I was thick and said errr gravy I think So I said ok that's fine can I have a side of peppercorn sauce aswell and they had none and didn't know how to make more. This says to me packet chefs.

Starters arrive and garlic bread was ok Aranchini was awful clearly frozen not fresh and did not have the ingredients in that was specified on the menu So I left this. No check back done on starters or offered more drinks as drinks had been empty a while.

So I approached the bar to order more drinks. At this time 5 ladies and a gent where on the bar two on the same till one having a drink two talking away an the lad looking a bit lost as he seemed to be the only one doing any work. At this point I just said to the staff I would not like another drink or the bill as I'm leaving an not paying for a thing. Great place just really slow service and poor food looked like it lacked...

We booked in for a family meal of 6 on a Saturday night in September 2023. The place is lovely and was buzzing at about 7pm. The food was really nice and the portion size was good. We have a nice comfortable night, the only criticism I have is that we booked the table for 7:30 and it took one of the party to catch the eye of a server some 40 minutes later to ask if our food orders could be taken. The order was then taken within 5 minutes and food was on the table quickly after that. Not once we’re we asked if we needed any drink refills and we ended up having to go to the bar ourselves??? The service really let this place down as the vibe of the place is great and the food amazing. It seemed like the manager had taken the night off and the staff had no urgency and didn’t really care. Quite a lot of staff just talking around the bar. The place cleared incredibly quickly and was empty by 9:30 which was a surprise. We waited far too long to be served, we could have spent a load more money on drinks but ended up only having two drinks each all night, Shame. It had been 10 years since we had been here previously and probably won’t return any time soon due to the nil service. Call me old fashioned but when you go out you want to be...
