Strange little cafe. The food is great, the drinks and service not so great.

This could be such a lovely little local cafe but very poor service and an unwelcoming atmosphere really lets it down.

We arrived on a Saturday lunchtime, expecting the cafe to be busy but it was empty. Slightly puzzling, we know in its previous life as The Kitchen, it was always a popular and busy spot.

The owner and 2 young assistants don't seem particularly interested in customers or customer service but the food is good quality and good value. Drinks and cutlery seem to be particularly puzzling.

A few improvements would really make a huge difference.

If you have older customers, go up to their table to take their order. Don't let them struggle back down and back up the steps.

Don't run out of teapots. Not sure how a cafe run out of teapots, especially when the cafe is empty.

Remember teaspoons. And have them near where you're making hot drinks.

If you advertise a drink on a poster in the (Black Sheep) make sure you do actually sell it!

make sure you know where the bottle opener is.

Bring all drinks at the same time. Don't stand and chat between bringing the drinks.

When bringing hot food, remember to bring everyone's cutlery at the same time. It makes it easier.

When the customer ask for a top up of tea (because there were no teapots). Don't just take the empty cups. It's good to clear the empty plates as well.

It's not really comfortable when staff are just sat in the corner of cafe chatting. Espec when plates could be cleared.

With small changes, this could be such a lovely local cafe which could be popular and well used by locals. At the moment it's a quite a sad and unwelcoming...

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Nord Coffee House, and I was thoroughly impressed by every aspect of this charming establishment. Nord Coffee House combines a warm, welcoming ambiance with top-notch service and an exceptional menu.

Food and Drinks: The menu offers a diverse selection of dishes that cater to all tastes. It’s evident that a lot of thought and care goes into sourcing high-quality ingredients and creating dishes that stand out.

Value for Money: Considering the quality of the food, the generous portions, and the excellent service, I found the pricing to be very reasonable.

Overall: Nord Coffee House is a true gem in Harrogate and has quickly become a favorite of mine. Whether you're looking for a quiet spot to enjoy a coffee, a hearty brunch, or simply a place to relax and unwind, this cafe ticks all the boxes. I can’t recommend it highly enough and am already looking forward to...

My review is based on going for only a quick coffee to get a break at lunchtime on my own. The coffee is always great. The team is friendly. I'd say service and attitude as improved on previous years/months, where with a previous team it seemed a bit hit and miss. A bit unsure about the atmosphere grading as I only tend to just go for a quick, quiet coffee only to break up the working day and it's not supposed to be a nightclub, so I'm not going for the vibes! There's often a bit of music on in the background, which is nice. There's obviously more of a bustle at busy times and perhaps less of an atmosphere when it's quiet and atmosphere depends a lot on the clientele that's in that day. Obvs! The general decor and fittings are good, it has a bit of character. I'd say the welcoming team deserves them the full marks...
