I agree with the sentiments of a few of the other reviews - this place has a LOT of potential, but lacks in a number of areas. The service is all over the place for one. The two wait staff we had were all over the place and brought out wrong food and kept going back to fix it. The menu itself reminds me of the kitsch places I use to eat at in 2010...my younger self would have enjoyed the retro style menu but now in my 40's I had a hard time figuring out what was on the menu as it's inundated with pictures and comic-style wording instead.
The menu did have a lot of food choices on it, but it would best to pair it down to just the items they can do well. They try hard with the 'alternate' options (aka vegetarian, gluten free, etc...) but they really don't taste that good. I was really happy with the nachos, but my child's chicken was slammed with so much pepper, even us adults had a hard time eating it. I was also flustered that my Diet Coke cost £2 for a skinny glass with hardly any soda in it and there were no refills. My double espresso order turned out to be just a single espresso shot, but I was still charged for the double.
I also had questionable perceptions of the hygiene of the person behind the bar - hand washing needs to be focused on, especially when the bar person is handling straws, glasses, and lemons.
In addition it took over 10 minutes for us to get the bill brought to us despite asking several times. When the wait staff came back with the bill and we asked to pay now, she walked off to get the payment machine and bring it back, but didn't return for another 5 minutes, we called her over again and said we'd like to pay and she went off again. She must have been unable to multi-task because the minute she walked away again we had to ask yet a third time to pay.
They also need to fix the picture of the diaper on the baby friendly door - someone drew a mini penis on the diaper which is really...
Read moreWe dined with my family for the first time and we were really looking forward to the menu and enjoying our evening. We were and immediately asked what we wanted to drink without even cracking open a menu by a waiter that seemed impatient or like he had somewhere else to be. We began looking through the menus and found we weren't given a drink menu. When he returned for our drink order after some time, we asked for the menu. After a bit longer he returned and I quickly squeezed in a small food order for our 2 little ones so they could start alond with the drinks. The part that annoyed me the most of our evening was when he came with our drinks and I asked to also place our food order (we have small kids, hello!?) and he put his hand up to cut me off and walked away. I then saw him grab his jacket and bag and walk out the door. Great. Shift change. No "GOODBYE" or "someone else will take care of you", super rude. A waitress came by with waters and we pleaded with her to take our order. Same ho hum attitude. We like dining out and we hoped this was going to be a cool new spot for us as we are new to the neighborhood. But after this and. an incredible wait on our entrees, that was the last straw for me. In fairness to the food, my husband had a roast chicken which he said was very good and I had butternut squash satay which wasn't a satay at all, but a veggie stir fry. I didn't think it was that good. There are better options than So to spend your money and time on...
Read moreSo bar .... So bad we walked out ..... Booked a table....walked in... shown to our seat. All fine. Sat down. Told "oh I'll come and wipe the table in a minute for you"... The place was NOT busy. We hadn't even asked for the table to be wiped. They just knew it needed doing. Should have already been done really. Ask for a drinks menu to be told "oh they're all on the tablet I can go through that with you if you really want but there's not really much on it".... Not providing us with a warm fuzzy feeling for a good place to eat/drink/spend a few hours. We looked at what we have been given and decided to walk out. Not helped by the fact that the place was not busy and yet they crammed their guests into one small corner. I am sure that the food is fine from looking at the other reviews but the first impression from this place with the staff was not good. Having never visited a so bar before I would think again about it. We went to a much nicer environment eatery in...
