Hedon Spice — Restaurant in England

We recently had a very disappointing experience at Hedon Spice. We were kept waiting for over two hours for our food, despite having two small children (both under 18 months) with us. The staff could clearly see our situation but showed no concern. They repeatedly assured us that our food was coming out next, but after each promise, we were left waiting even longer. The final time they told us it was on its way, we had to wait an additional 20 minutes.

When we finally decided we couldn't wait any longer and asked to take the food away (since they offer takeaways), it took another 20 minutes for them to box it up. The restaurant was quiet, and we had arrived as soon as it opened, so there was no excuse for the delay. They claimed to give us a discount, but the bill still came to £140.

The only positive aspect of our visit was the young waitress, who seemed accustomed to this kind of poor service and tried her best to be helpful. However, the overall lack of compassion for our young children and the dreadful service means we won't be returning.

We have used their takeaway service for a long time without issues, but this was our first and last visit to the restaurant. Additionally, when we asked about baby changing facilities, the waitress informed us there were none. The restaurant is also not accessible for prams or wheelchairs due to the lack of disabled access.

To anyone considering dining here, especially with young children or mobility needs, I would recommend...

Visit this when I am part of the yearly weekend ice hockey tournament at Hull Ice Arena. I play hockey, go pick up the order from Hedon Spice and go stay overnight at family in Burstwick. This is the second year in a row that I’ve enjoyed the food and service from staff when collecting the takeaway food for three people. Absolutely delicious food. Nice restaurant, clean and comfortable with tasteful decor. Nice traditional music at reasonable volume such that you can still have conversations without shouting. Portions don't seem to be as big as they have been in the past but given how nice it is, it could be that I like it so much I want to keep eating!

My only critique of i was to be really pick is that if you're the only table in an empty restaurant... Someone will come in and be put on the table next to you. I don't...
