Well, it said chicken on the menu & it looked like chicken on the plate, but it was really tough & all we can say is I hope it didn't bark in a former life. All 3 of us left the chicken. Where food was specifically asked not to include certain dietary contents, the guy serving didn't pass the message onto the cooks, ruining another meal. The food was £4 more than stated online & we got charged for 1 extra beer than what was ordered to our table & deserts are min £9 each. A lovely looking place from the outside road, but left to ruin as you drive around the side of it (do not use the swing unless you want to visit A&E). The guy serving stood over out table like a hawk, watching everyone as they eat & was trying to clear the table before we had a chance to even get out of our chairs. It's a really nice looking place, but if you choose to visit, I'd think twice before ordering anything more them a drink & bring your own music with you if you want an atmosphere as its early silent if not for your own...

We found this restaurant by accident and we won't be returning again. We had to wait 20minutes at the bar for service as nobody seemed to be working, when we did eventually find somebody he was having a very long conversation with another customer and did not want to leave to seat us. The food was of good quality but over priced and the gentleman who served us was polite and friendly. Unfortunately at the end of the meal the manager took our money but did not return with my change, I had to find him and ask for it which he stated 'sorry I thought it was a tip', no sir we decide whether you have...

Just back home following a gastronomic experience. Locally sourced and foraged food cooked to perfection. Thank you for leaving the coral on my scallops with wild garlic. My husband says his mussels were the best he has ever had. Our mains of Sole and Duck were again perfect with an excellent selection of seasonal vegetables. Luckily we could both manage a dessert which again were superb. A quiet night where we could talk and hear each other without disturbing background music. An historically interesting setting we will be back for certain. A great end too our 32nd wedding...

Fabulous little pub.Glad we booked for Sunday.Food was lovely. The veggie option was a mushroom strudel which was a refreshing option for a veggie rather than a boring nut roast.Very quaint setting and the owner was telling us about his handmade oak tables which were beautiful. The beef was amazing the lamb was nice if a tad fatty. All the starters were lovely. No draft beers but bottled options.Highly recommend if you fancy a good meal with local produce.Atmosphere I've given a 4 as I just thought it would be nice to have a little background music.

My fiancé and I came here for a three course meal and it was definitely an excellent choice. Very delicious food in an interesting historic setting, with the intact mill surrounding us. I had the crab cocktail, slow cooked beef brisket, and apple berry crumble for dessert. Really quite faultless. My partner had the pork and summer pudding and was equally as impressed. Friendly and warm service too, with the owner giving us lots of holiday recommendations.

We went to Heskyn Mill for our tour group's final dinner. It was well worth it. The host and staff were very friendly and efficient. All the dishes were well presented and very tasty. Nobody complained. I had the smoked salmon with a nice slice of warm sodabread, slow cooked brisket with a lovely sause and new potatoes and the apple and berry crumble with custard. A memorable meal for all the right reasons.
