This cafe has a lovely convenient location and the food we had was nice, I had the only vegetarian option of a cheese sandwich but it was very tasty. My concern was the fact everything was disposable, the cups, containers and cutlery. The owner said they were recyclable however there was a bin for general waste which was full (the one next to it was for glass). I appreciate these are strange times, but like many, am aware that we are creating unnecessary waste and do not see the need for single use items. The cafe was closing and yes the owner made this quite clear to everyone, I took my cup etc with me to recycle myself, but would suggest more bins or use normal crockery/cutlery as we have had everywhere else.

In response to the owners reply, I did not place you in the same category as non recyclable polystyrene but nothing is recyclable if there aren't there aren't the facilities provided, like an allocated bin, otherwise it's just off to landfill with all the other rubbish. Knowledge...
Read moreOH YES!!!! I got a sarky reply I was hoping to be part of this. Maybe change the menu on line then as it clearly states u sell a ploughman's (misadvertisement is not great) I understand about the scone, sometimes its worth a ask tho right?! The 1 star is not for your cafe as we didn't have the pleasure of experiencing it, its for the old large lady who has no manners or customer care. Sadly if you put that at the front of the line for your company especially to your customers it will leave a negative view of your cafe. Have a good day and I wish you happiness.
Saw this little gem on the Internet as searched cafes close to where we was staying, great looking menu, great reviews sadly don't think the owner took a liking to us, anything we had seen on the menu and was keen to try 'we don't do that' she was very cold, asked for the scones and tea take away 'we don't do that' OK can we just have the scone please, 'no we don't do it like that' we would of payed the whole price but was keen to try...
Read moreIncredible food - had the smoked mackerel sandwich, and the focaccia was hot and crusty and the mackerel and salad utterly delicious. My boyfriend had the vegan BLT and it was good (although too vinegary). It’s fairly pricey but I think that’s understandable given they have to make a lot of money in the summer to last them the winter, and good ingredients are expensive. The cafe is absolutely gorgeous (an old chapel) and tonnes of interesting things to look at. The owners were fine but one word answers, not warm or especially pleasant - we wanted to ask for a bit of hot water for our flask but thought we might get a poor reception. It’s shame as if they were friendly it would be one of the best cafes ever. It did make me wonder why anyone would run a cafe if they don’t really like people…. But def stop if you want a great sandwich - they have less range (due to being a cafe not a pub) but it is better food than the Shipwrights...
