If I could give no stars I would. When arriving we gave our name that our booking was under. It took the waitress over 5 minutes to find our name. Once we was being taken over to our table she shouted in our face to another colleague 1st booking table 31. Why couldn’t you go and speak to her once we was seated? When seated the waitress said she’s sorry it’s a rubbish seat but they’re fully booked.
Whilst choosing our food, around 10 members of staff stood at the bar, moaning rather loudly.
‘Are they walk ins?’ ‘Why are they here if they haven’t pre ordered’ ‘well I’m not cooking them a proper meal’ ‘boss said we could finish at 8 so why are bookings coming in after 8’ ‘boss said I didn’t have to cook for walk ins’
One member of staff could see us looking in disgust and told the others to ‘shhh’ to which one male chef said ‘I’m not bothered if they can hear’
I’ve never felt so unwanted in a restaurant. My partner was going to ask if we should leave/if it was a problem.
Finally they came over and asked for our drinks order in which we gave. Both drinks came over flat, I tried to tell the waiter but he just walked off. We waited for someone to come over in which we told her and changed our drink.
We had chosen what we wanted, upon placing our order we was told ‘boss said we’re only doing one menu today not the main menu’
I asked why... as when we booked it asked us what menu we wanted to order from and we picked the main menu. She replied ‘i dunno’
She told us to have another look and see what we wanted. We did, 15 minutes passed and she was nowhere to be seen. We walked to the bar and paid for our drinks and left.
We’ve been to this pub lots in the past and now I will never return. Don’t go here if you have any form of expectation of service...
Read moreA wonderfully cozy little restaurant with a wonderful variety of drinks from ciders to cocktails to shots. Unfortunately there was not an awful lot of choice in mocktails, but there was a few choices in ciders from the list. The food variety is a little limited, only a few burgers and not much pasta variety for the adults. There's a grill section, a pub classic section, burger selection, create your own pizza section as well as a few others and the desert options. Service was fantastic, the woman who served us was nothing but calm and paitent. Though she did forget to inform us there was no rice for the curries that were ordered but offered to substitute rice for chips, this meant changing the order after picking our food. Food arrived promptly and was quite nice though I did have a little wait for my second drink that I ordered it wasn't a super long time. Toilets are mostly clean apart from the last stall in the womens bathroom, there's some black stuff on the ceiling (I think a mix of dust and cobwebs) and the lock was a little hard to use but aside from that it was perfectly fine. Upon payment there was some difficulty using the card machines, the first two tries with the wireless didn't work so we went to pay at the bar. There were issues with the card declining there until we were finally prompted to put a pin in, it was mildly frustrating that this wasn't communicated to us before but not a major issue. Would come here again, but maybe for a small dinner not for a birthday dinner like...
Read moreAs a family, we had never had a Christmas Dinner anywhere else other than our family home, so we decided to book the Horse and Jockey for the special day, as our Mum, Jill had sadly passed away just before Christmas last year. She always cooked our Christmas Dinner, so, for the first time we 'took a chance' and booked our Christmas Dinner elsewhere. I can honestly say, as a Family of six, we all had such a Lovely time at The Horse and Jockey on Christmas Day. We didn't know what to expect but we were not disappointed. The food was 'home cooked' and plentiful and All of the staff where so attentive, and I have to say, Grace, the Lady who greeted us all and served our food was So lovely and kind, treating us all like friends. Grace really made our day special.. She is a Credit to the restaurant and is both professional and friendly in her conduct. We have since returned to the horse and jockey for breakfast on Saturday mornings and have met Lisa and Tina who are always equally welcoming and friendly. The Horse and Jockey has gone 'above the call of duty' in our opinion as a restaurant and we thoroughly recommend them if your passing by or looking for a great place to eat locally. Thanks and Happy New Year to all the team at the Horse and...
