Jack´s Surf Bar — Restaurant in England

First came to Jack's back in 2024. This was our first time to Allonby, saw this lovely looking pub and went on to get food after our long drive. Well, from the moment we stepped in it was like we had been there a thousand times, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We ordered our food and waited the short amount of time, and then it arrived... the servings were more than worth the price and the food was just delicious, we visited there a couple more times during our stay. We got home and told our family and friends about how much we enjoyed dining out at Jack's surf bar. Fast forward to June 2025. We have returned with parents, the first thing we advise them to do.... head to Jack's surf bar. They went to have food, lamb dinners, and returned saying they can't believe the amount of food they had for their money (too full to eat their pudding so came back with it). We went to eat after and we were welcomed back, remembered by the lovely staff who made our dining experience that much better. The food was incredible, as ever and still great value for money. Parents returned the night after with visiting friends who were blown away by the service they received and the food they ate (we went once they returned, we'd be daft not to) and parents came back saying they can't wait to return so they can eat at Jack's again. Tonight we have had a Jack's surf bar takeaway, they really do it all, ans as expected, delicious. If you happen to visit the lovely little village of Allonby, or it's close by towns, please do pop into to Jack's surf bar, you will not be disappointed. I say this wholeheartedly, I 100% recommend this...

Was at Allonby on Easter Sunday with my daughter, my daughter wanted an iced soft drink, we decided to also have food so we thought we’d try this pub. As we was about to enter, we was greeted with an extremely rude man collecting glasses outside, who insisted on knowing what we wanted before we entered the building?!! I explained I didn’t know yet but we would like a soft drink and we were to decide on food. (I hadn’t even had a chance to look at the menu at this point, or if the place looked decent/clean on the inside!) He continued to be rude, and even made rude remarks to other customers sitting outside about people using the toilets!!! Needless to say we never bothered entering, and decided to spend our money elsewhere. What an awful greeting to a lady and daughter on Easter Sunday. Disgusting customer service!!! Can’t imagine what the food would have been like, when customers are treated so terribly...

Me and my fiancée stopped off on our way back to our pod at the Lowther Arms for dinner. Freezing cold, snowing, and really hungry from a busy day.

Came in for a meal, and was not disappointed! Friendly woman behind the bar served us and an amazing meal easily the best in the North West of the lake district. Felt really welcome warm and tasty food, not to mention fantastic prices!

Only negative thing was the bathrooms, maybe just a referb or general repair and spruce up would make that a 5 star!

Fantastic work guys really well done, if we ever come to the area again we will definitely be returning! Improved our last holiday...
