We arrived here on valentine's which was understandably busy and we where early.

We said Hi we are here for our meal but we are early, but we were surprised not to be asked if we would like a drink...we stood there for a while at the bar waiting until I eventually asked the waitress if we can have a drink?...she asked what we would like but then put the glasses and drinks on the bar but didn't pour them and walked away... Eventually we got out table which was nice, we ordered our starter and main and where surprised that out main turned up half hour later - the waitress then realised it was a mistake and it was another table for twos food.

The food - The food tastes great - really nice! Probably the best Thai in Cornwall by a mile but my £15 main meal was lacking in any kind of veg - but my wife's green curry was very nice!...and I would have priced the meals the other way around...

We where again a bit disappointed that we had to ask for another drink before we left as no one asked - no one asked if we would like a dessert or anything.

At paying we where informed that it would of been 50p more to have a whole bottle of prosecco rather than two minis?!

The owner informed us he's winging it tonight as the tables have been moved about and he doesn't t know what's going on - which I as a manager wouldnt have ever said to a client personally.

We then noticed that the restaurant charges a 10 percent service charge - bit of joke considering the service that evening.

We didn't want to fuss so we just paid, don't get me wrong the foods nice, really nice and I have personally lived in Thailand and Asia so I know how the food tastes and this is good! But the front of house service is not so great.

All in all a good meal but at £75 for two without a dessert I would expect better treatment and the service charge is going to mount up if your a large party.

Maybe they where having a bad night - who knows we where just a bit disappointed as we don't get out much having...

My family and I decided to try this resturant out considering it was on our travels, we are a family of 6 and we asked a member of staff if they dinned for young children, which he just replied "yes". We were slightly confused at first what was the entrance, we then found the entrance and had to look for a moment for a member of staff and we were actually quite disappointed with the very blunt quiet staff we had. They didn't come over and check things were okay, if we wanted any more drinks ect, just sat us down and gave us a menu. We were quite surprised how expensive it was, but children were soo hungry so we decided to stay even though there really wasn't much for children, however we gave my 1 and 2 year odd bits off everyones plate as they don't eat too much, I got my son their version of kfc with a few chips, when they came out he had 3 very small chicken gourgon type breaded chicken, and about 6 small chunky chips, he was starving after still, and we had main meals and were shocked at how small the portion sizes were, we all came out starving, food was okay - nothing special and definitely wouldnt say it was amazing considering the prices, you'd expect higher standards. The biggest downfall here is the very unfriendly and no energy type staff with barely any social skills. Low standard food and too highly priced. When you have finished you havw to fins someone to bring you the bill, when they do they come and hand you a jumanji game type wooden box and because i only had notes i gave them over what i needed to and she shut the box and walked off and didnt come back with my change, just presumed it was a tip??, at this point i just wanted to get out the place with children crying ext still being hungry ect so I left after waiting a while, no one even asked if it was a tip or anything just didn't come back. When me and my partner revisit cornwall soon on our own without the children, we would avoid this place and also recommend...

Like a meal with family... but in an awe-inspiring setting with gourmet chefs!! 😋🍻

I first came across Jumunjy in May 2018 when they were operating a takeaway service and was blown away by the quality, far exceeding that of restaurants at such good value! So ever since they opened their own restaurant, I’ve been itching to return! …just the small details of a global pandemic and it being 300 miles away from home to get past 😄 However, when I decided to return to Lizard for the first time for a birthday roadtrip, I knew exactly where I’d go for my celebration meal, and it honestly blew me away!

Firstly, the staff are AMAZING, so so welcoming! Big shout-outs to Izzy, Karen, Roo, Rachel and Harry! This is a solo roadtrip but I felt like I was surrounded by friends! The decor is also incredible, creating an immersive and truly authentic feel of Thailand, and since they've built it all themselves, an incredible passion project! I also loved the fact that they have a separate bar area as well as the restaurant section, to relax in before/after the meal. This would absolutely be my local if I lived anywhere near them!

The food was every bit as impressive as the two times I'd used the takeaway, creating masterful dishes that people simply wouldn't have the expertise to produce themselves. The seafood tempura was perfect, and the Hung Lay pork was divine, a fantastic balance of flavours and I'm definitely going to try to find somewhere in London where I can source the tasty roti flatbreads!! The portions were very generous, and the same can be said for the accompanying cocktails!

Thank you again for a very special birthday, you've truly created...

I tried to phone an order through twice neither call was picked up thinking they were closed I decided to call in at the restaurant as it was on my way home anyway , They were open so I sat outside patiently waiting to place an order a girl appeared who said they only take phone orders, I explained I had tried but no one had answered the phone, She said "well I'm here now so now you can" and walked off, charming Undeterred I sat outside and phoned through my order which was taken along with payment, I was now told I would have to wait 30 mins for my food no apology was given perhaps the owner would apologise when he brought my food out 35 mins later, No apology was forthcoming so just the one star for customer service then perhaps the food would make up for the so far underwhelming experience Tempura prawns for a starter which were in fact breadcrumbed nice enough but not what I ordered tempura being a thin batter not a panade Next up ribs, ribs if done well are a thing of beauty moist sticky and unctuous these were not dry acrid and for some reason smashed to oblivion with a cleaver, Perhaps the red prawn curry would save the day priced at £12.00 I would have expected a few more of the small 4 or 5 prawns that I actually got along with my peas and carrots and for some reason huge thick slices of garangal which were inedible £30 for a meal for one person is expensive and needed to be above average it wasn't, The food was as underwhelming as the surly service, Will I be going back? That will be a big fat no from me then

Having been highly recommended to visit Jamunjy's by a friend of mine when in the area, we were not disappointed , the welcome was very sincere from the owner ( wife is the Chef and Thai ) the menu was explained when we asked, types and heat factors etc ,the food presentation was excellent with the real taste of Thailand, which along with the atmosphere you almost felt like you are there. No rush laid back. I went for the Penang special vegetarian version and my wife had the Red Thai vegetarian curry, then the sweet choice this night was dessert taster plate Mmmmmm fantastic end to the meal. Cost was very reasonable we thought, bill came with two very nice different little chocolates. The restaurant it's self is a work in progress ( being based on their restaurant in Thailand) with things being added all the time, recycling in full mode here, not every place you go has the tail end of a plane sticking out the wall, looking like it crashed there a few years ago, lost in the jungle, there are also the odd bat and gecko around ( not real or are they ? ) All super clean real fun toilet for the gents. As my friend recommended to us "You have to visit Jamunjy's if you are in the area " and you must. Definitely going back and as we are lucky enough to live in Cornwall, maybe not just when we are in the area. Booking recommended.
