Wow, if you enjoy Fawlty Towers then this may just be the restaurant for you!!! We arrived on time for our booking. The table was not ready despite the restaurant being only half full. We were shown to a table where the waiter pointed at the floor and mumbled something about the mess of food on the floor and the fact a baby had been sitting there previously. No attempt to clear up the mess at all! Maybe they don't own a brush? We were then asked if we wanted drinks but the waiter struggled with English and said he didn't understand when we used complex terminology like "gin" and "lager". Eventually the drinks arrived... apart from "tonic" which was clearly a stretch too far. The service was slow. The food itself was good although ordering drinks became a real challenge... at one time we had to ask 4 times to actually be served a coke taking nearly 40 minutes in total. After we ate the starters, the waiter took the dirty knife and fork and put them on the white table cloth making a mess right in front of us!! We had to ask for clean cutlery and he mumbled something about it being a problem. When we came to pay, the manager came over and didn't speak a single word as he processed our card payments... not even a thank you or acknowledgement we were there. As we left, the manager was sitting in reception eating his dinner and didn't look up. Such a shame. Great location, free parking, good food but absolutely awful service...
Read moreWe were having our meal at Spices of Bruerne. At around 9.30 pm we could see kitchen staff started shutting things down. We weren’t even asked if we wanted to see the desert menu which we waited a long time for before giving up and asking for the bill. At 10.03pm we were finishing drinks before we said our goodbyes when we were told by a member of staff the restaurant was closed and asked us to leave. As they already knew we were preparing to leave, there was no need to ask and I thought this was extremely rude. I couldn’t think of anything worse to spoil what would have been a perfect evening after spending £130. When we left we noticed the sign outside the door saying opening hours were until 11pm so they had decided to close an hour early.
In summary good food and beautiful location ruined by poor customer service. None of the staff looked like they wanted to be there. However, credit where credit is due, the young lad who took our orders was very sweet. This restaurant appears to have the potential to do very well if the staff loved it enough to make it successful. I think we will continue with our usual Indian restaurant, despite the extra travel. We know what service we can expect we go there and that we are...
Read moreYet again poor service and customer care from Spice of Bruerne. We ordered a take out at 10:00pm on. Friday 27th July, was told over the phone it would be ready for collection in 25 minuets. When we arrived the restaurant which was fairly empty and with nobody waiting for take out other than us. We only ordered two meals with two naan breads so in my opinion really not very much work / food to prepare. However after waiting for one hour my wife asked the waiter where our order was, baring in mind we were told 25 minuets and they definitely was not busy at all. The waiter went to check and guess what he came back with the order!!! Not sure how much longer we would have had to wait if we hadn’t of asked him where it was. We get the order home, to find no naans breads and some rice that we never ordered, very frustrating when this keeps happening.!!!! This is not the first time we had this issue with them, over the last 8 months we have over 6 take aways with 4 being completely wrong. This is totally unexceptionable, I would have called back last night, however they shut at 11:00 and because we had waited so long there’s nothing we could do. Time to find a different India take away, no...
