I did the Coast-to-Coast with 3 of my best mates for Charity at the end of March 2023, and we arrived in Keld in the Dark, wet, wind and cold, on a random Thursday evening. We had plans to stop in at the hotel just next to this cafe for a drink and maybe somewhere to stay. However, it turned out the hotel is not open for the public, despite what it advertises on Google.
As we quickly realised there was nowhere open to get dinner in Keld we knocked on the door of this cafe on the off chance that they could point us in the direction of somewhere we could find food. To our luck they were amazingly kind and let us come in, and cooked meals for us (even though they were supposed to be closed).

   Read moreWe visited here for breakfast before the long walk to the Tan Hill Inn. Absolutely fantastic food and coffee with a roaring fire whilst the wind and rain did it's thing outside. The owners were great company and very hospitable. Clean, dog friendly establishment and incredibly welcoming and comfortable. We can't wait to return!
PS: The Tan Hill Inn's food is good too but the food here is actually better in our opinion and much better priced, we recommend a nice big breaky here to keep you right and save you money.

   Read moreI highly, highly recommend. I was walking from Landâs End to John oâ Groats in summer 2022. I think Keld counts as about halfway (and also halfway on the coast to coast). Each day, Iâd normally stop walking mid-morning for a tea in a cafe. One morning I decided against it since itâd be a 2 mile detour out to Muker and I pushed onto Kirkby Stephens.
