I came here for dinner on my own one evening after a particularly gruelling day at nearby hospital, just needed to unwind with some really good quality food and found this restaurant here on Google. The food was superb and the service was nice too.
But a couple of weeks later I visited my parents' house and found a PARKING FINE had been delivered to my mother who has dementia. I had driven her car to see her in hospital as I have a van and it's easier for me to drive the car sometimes.
I'm sorry but there's absolutely no excuse for issuing a parking fine to a customer who spends nearly £100 on a slap up dinner for one, for parking outside in the grounds of the hotel restaurant.
My mum's vehicle data was literally looked up by a private company to facilitate this. Very unimpressed and on that basis there is NO way I'd risk going back there again, especially considering the terrible stories you hear about these private parking companies who basically try to extort money from people.
I had bad memories associated with hospital visits, but the meal had brought a lot of relaxation, sadly that memory itself was ruined by this experience of stress having to explain to my mother who has dementia why she had received a parking ticket, and also having to deal with it to get it cancelled.
Yes the ticket was cancelled when I called up, but sorry - zero tolerance to this kind of thing, it's NEVER okay to give your customers a...
Read moreI rarely leave reviews, but I felt compelled after the horrible experience we had at this restaurant. We were seated outside and, after waiting 30 minutes with no menus or service, we had to get up and go inside to get attention. Even then, we waited another 15 minutes with no progress. We had to get up a second time just to be acknowledged. By this point, we had been sitting there for almost an hour without menus, drinks, or any sign of life from the staff.
To make matters worse, we were given a kids' menu for my 18-month-old, and it was entirely non-vegetarian. I asked if they could make her pasta, and the waiter said they’d check, but of course, no one came back to follow up. When the starters finally arrived, they brought linguine pasta, which my daughter wouldn’t even eat (and she’s loves pasta however was not familiar with linguine), so that was a complete waste. On top of that, they served the wrong drinks, and the food was cold.
This was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day outing, but it was ruined. The entire experience was frustrating and disappointing. I honestly wish we had just gone to McDonald's instead. Never...
Read moreReally lovely restaurant at Stoke Park Country Club. The decor is modern country house. The staff are friendly and efficient, without being snobby, as often happens in 'posh' places. For starters we had the goats cheese mousse ( disappointing) chicken and leek terrine ( so good it was scoffed before we had a chance to share) and the squid with chilli sauce which was excellent and a very large portion. For mains, 2 of us had steak, and i would say my rare steak was amongst the best i've ever had (and we raise our own rare-breed cattle) in terms of tenderness and flavour, and was cooked to perfection. The other of our party had the confit of duck, and whilst not as tender as it could have been was incredibly tasty. The dessert menu was very good, we had cheese boards x 2, raspberry pannacotta and the mango and passionfruit cheesecake to share - all superb. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are in the area. Very reasonably priced at @£60 a head including...
