Would give 0 stars if I could. Been here previously but standards have massively dropped. Came here yesterday with my partner to have a relaxed dinner and it was really poor. I do understand that it was the end of the day but the carpet where we were seated was dirty with bits of food around and waiters were acting really unprofessional and were seen swearing at each other throughout (having banter is okay but not swearing and not when there are still a few tables eating in the restaurant) showing middle fingers to each other, female waiter shouting “bruv”, “I swear to god” and they all just seemed not to care. —This wouldn’t have bothered me as much if the service had been better either. Our food came out way before our drinks and they tried to serve a different dish to the one we ordered. I hate to leave bad reviews but the atmosphere they built was not welcoming or nice especially towards the end. The person who brought our food from the kitchen asked us twice if anything else was forgotten and we said about our drinks & nothing came, we asked our waiter who took our order for our drinks twice while we were eating as he had forgotten what drinks we had ordered, he didn’t bother to look at the ticket or order to check and then when servicing the drinks he was eating crisps and snacks behind the bar whilst making the drinks with his hands and still forgot our water. He was generally just substandard when taking our order and did not seem care about whether he got our orders right and did not check for over 20 minutes whether we had received our drinks or not! Then he could be heard bantering with the bar staff about how it was their fault they didn’t make them yet, overall it was like he had not had any training, leaning on the bar and having banter instead of tending to the drinks in the first place. Our mains were the same but we got two different plates with missing parts like crackling & bread sauce on one plate but not the other, getting one Yorkshire pudding on one and two on the other, the Yorkshire puddings are more like pancakes too, very doughy and flat (only complaint about the food because the rest was lovely but this was not an enjoyable experience with the lack of good service and water to go with it). If you are okay with very bad service but good food only, then I would recommend here. Additionally, they make you pay 20% VAT which I would not mind normally but this is poor of them to do as a standard considering how shocking the experience is & how much they’re charging. Read moreOn Sunday 6th June our care company visited this restaurant for a well deserved first time out since the pandemic meal together. On arrival we were told that there was only 1 table booked and not two even though we had received an email confirming. Our director ordered champagne which we had to wait 40 minutes for. We were told after 20 minutes that they had run out of roast meals so we changed the menu to fillet steaks. Four were ordered and some of us had starters, after a further 20 minutes they then told us there were only three fillets left so the last one ordered was a rib eye. Some of the starters arrived with some of the main courses. My colleagues steak came plonked on the plate with fries but no tomato or mushroom and when she asked a member of staff she walked away and by the end of the meal still hadn't received this. One of our staff is vegan and didn't even receive her main course until we had all finished and handed her a take away box so she had her main course in work on Monday. One starter came to our pregnant staff member with her dessert after her main course she was so hungry she ate it. I was told there was no Peroni then handed a warm pint which i didn't ask for then got three Peroni's which i was told originally were out of stock. Other issues on the day were no cutlery not enough glasses for the champagne, service and i cleared the plates after the meal to another table as you can imagine how many plates etc with 10 people. This restaurant before lock down was exceptional as i had my mothers wake after her funeral here, so this was a very disappointing experience all round. As an ex experienced F and B manager at a 4 star hotel in Burnham i feel the staff definitely need further training in customer service. Hospitality is based around this and going above and beyond for the guests. Read moreIt's 22 October 2023 at 13:50 pm left the red lion out of sheer humiliation. I and my friend came out of RBBA durga pooja festival to have our lunch here. There were other people as well but they chose to ignore us. We were waiting to order some food for us since past 15 mins "LITERALLY". I was so excited to order food. It's so disheartening to see everybody (the staff)were least bothered I left already and didn't even noticed that . Two of them were even seeing us from far away but didnt even bothered to take our order. As I already left AS IT WAS SUPER INSULTING. My friend came after me. When she stood up one of the staff said " oh were you waiting for the service ,I am sorry let me send someone to you to take the order" really? She could have taken the order herself if she was so concerned. I experienced this for the very first time. It was hurtful. This is mere poor management skill. The owner is least bothered that's why the employees are so ignorant and underskilled or judged us based on our looks.? I don't know I felt that way. We were looking a bit different because of the hindu pooja thingy across the road. I don't know first time ever I felt it. I never take such energies, but yes 100% we were been ignored there,very obviously, No benefit of doubt over there. There were people definitely but we were centrally seated. It's impossible to avoid by mistakenly. This is a well known place here in stokes according to the ratings. I did expected a quality service. But disappointment to its peak.
This review I dont know if anybody can notice..but for the first time it happened with me here in The United kingdoms .Its a Shame. I won't ever recommend this place to anyone.
