Pretty disappointing and it was mostly because of staff.
When we were sat down, we were left for ten minutes before being asked about drinks. By that point we were ready to order so did it all at once.
The food was mostly good! I was already put off by the fact they'd gotten rid of my favourite dish (thai beef salad) but it is what it is. We had the Dim sum and satay skewers starters, both very nice. And then Tamarind duck with bangin' broccoli, Asian sea bass and Sam Tom salad. The duck was amazing, so was the broccoli. The sea bass was nice, very delicate flavours but the Sam Tom was bland. The menu said it was spicy but there was no flavour to it at all.
When we were done eating, staff came and took the plates away with no offer to see the pudding menu or to get anything else. And instead we were sat there for ten minutes with nothing, no drinks, no plates and no one came to check on us. We were going to order pudding but I got fed up of waiting while the two couples next to us were tended to without any delays and we were ignored (likely because there was nothing on the table). We managed to catch one staff member to ask for the bill who then proceeded to stand behind the bar looking like a lost sheep with nothing to do. It took another ten minutes before she eventually brought the bill out to us (might not sound like much but when you're sat there doing nothing, it does feel like forever but I did keep my eye on the time). We paid up immediately and left.
I have previously been a big fan of Koh Thai having mainly been to the one in Bournemouth (and the one in Boscombe when it was around) but my experience here left an incredibly disappointing feeling mostly due to the staff. I'm not sure I can be bothered to give Koh Thai another chance but if I do, it certainly...
Read moreSadly, as an elderly couple, we were led into a dark corner without light. I couldn’t even read the menu. Spotting other tables with proper lights, we asked the waitress to be relocated, where we could read the menu. To our surprise she offered us a high bar stool table, disregarding the fact that when eighty-year olds fall from a high chair they will likely break their necks and die. In the end we were given one of several still available and properly lit tables. What concerned me the most, was another old lady arriving after us with her carer was then tucked away into the same dark corner we had just escaped from. She too could not read the menu as we heard her noting to her carer. My advice to the manager, don’t treat us oldies like scrap and give us some respect. We are the guys with the money and the generous tips. Apart from that, the food was nice, but we didn’t hang around to order extra drinks, coffee or desert. Shame. Please invest in a lightbulb, some atmosphere and treat old folks...
Read moreA Thai Restaurant that doesn’t disappoint. 😍 Not only are the staff super welcoming and very friendly, but the food is honestly super tasty! Also I feel the pricing is spot on. 👌🏻 Neither food nor drinks are overpriced. Especially for the Lilliput/Whitecliff/Sandbanks area, this is a great option with lots of free parking opposite in one of the side roads.
The Chardonnay wine on the menu was very fruity and refreshing, the Squid (starter) was cooked almost to perfection, and the Spicy Fried Rice with Chicken (main dish) was full of flavour and very spicy! 🌶 With the friendly and efficient service it is also no surprise to see and of course settle the service charge on the bill. 💳
Overall highly recommend if you are within the Lilliput/Whitecliff area! 🙌🏻 Great Thai food, great staff and a great little gem of...
