Got to say a very disappointing experience today. Ordered some food with mum today (photo attached).

After ordering Mum suddenly realised the curry was beef not chicken - her mistake. Went to the bar to see if it could be changed as we were told a 40 minute wait. Sadly it couldn’t be changed which is understandable, but to hear ‘your curry is in the microwave already’ puts a downer on enjoying a £17 meal.

I had calamari and cheesy garlic bread. The calamari was chewy and from the photo you can see the batter didn’t stick to it when it was served, let alone when trying to eat it. It was like eating a condom - never done it but I can imagine it’s a similar experience.

Cheesy garlic bread wasn’t melted (as in the picture) and was still cold which should be the easiest thing to do.

No one came to our table to check on our food even though the servers were laughing and giggling together at the bar. When the table was cleaned I explained my issue with the calamari which I had tasted and left, but the young male student server seemed uninterested and just disappeared.

Very sad experience, which I can put down to a too big a menu. Any pub trying to implement a menu that large on a busy day has to make compromises with quality (microwaves, rushed orders etc.) which is exactly what we experienced today.

Won’t...

Such a shame we were met with such appealing customer service and just plain rude behaviour. We waited over half an hour for our food (3 fish and chips and 1 burger) so after mentioning it to the staff i was basically told that I didn't have to wait and that i could have my money back! No apology, no explanation why it took so long. after saying that I indeed had to wait as my kids were hungry after a whole day out the staff was still unable to give me an idea how much longer it would take for our food to be ready. (I got told that it takes 20minutes to cook a burger.. OK... unlikely story) When I ended up asking for my money back, suddenly our food was ready to be plated up, but at that point i just wanted to take my money elsewhere and leave. I've never experienced such rude behaviour from a landlord. I would have not minded waiting another 5 minutes if I had been told how much longer it would be, but that info was unavailable and the initial response of saying I didn't have to wait and could leave is utterly appalling. I don't plan to return as we don't live nearby but I'm just shocked by the attitude and the lack of understanding of...

We are regular lunchtime visitors to this pub when visiting family. The atmosphere is generally buzzing, the staff are welcoming and friendly, the food is excellent - although the portions could be a bit smaller! The chips are some of the best I've eaten, crunchy outside, fluffy inside. There's a good range of pub staples and a specials board, with several veggie options. It gets very busy sometimes, and as food is made freshly there may be a long wait for your food to arrive. In the meantime, there are 2-3 real ales on the bar, and some nice non-alcoholic drinks for drivers. There's a huge garden with swings etc., with awnings over tables closest to the pub for some shelter. Inside it's rustic country pub style, with a small snug and two other seating areas within the bar. The car park is quite big, but note that the 'road' to it off the common has some significant...

Popped in for a drink after visiting a local historic house. I received a friendly welcome and sat near to their open fire place. The pub has an oldy worldy feel with wood beams etc. The bar is split into small areas making it feel cosy Out back is a large garden area and to the side a covered outdoor area. There is a good size car park too! The pub serves food but not all day. There were slate boards on the fireplace showing what dishes were on offer and they looked interesting ( see photos ) The final piece of road that leads up to the pub is an unmade road with a few quite large holes so ease take care.

The team hosted an amazing family event for us, helping set up the outside area as a party space, enabling the music, mixing jugs of Pimms and setting out a fantastic BBQ spread including vegan alternatives. All in all a wonderful event. Thank you so much!
