Latest Update June '25. Unfortunately, a change of Manager/ Staff/ Chef, has turned a usually busy place with excellent food, nice music and banter with the staff, to an over priced lower than average pub with food. Shop bought steak pie looked quite big but with a spoonful of mush for a filling. Chips with skin on (asked for normal chips as they were offered), very weak watery gravy. Chicken kebab and chips (again skin on not asked for) chicken was lumps of mainly fat, bit of salad greenery and a huge flat bread. That with a couple of pepsi (asked for coke) and charged £35! The Manager did ask if he could get us something else. Directions to the exit please! We have always had good meals and a fantastic Family Christmas dinner in the past, but now....... I'll not eat there again. The last review I did was 5 star and was as follows!
Great friendly service, clean and tidy, really tasty food, I recommend the ribs (fully stacked) worth every penny. Today was Surf and turf for me, I'd have preferred proper prawns and not battered prawn balls (sounds painfully if your a prawn) KO Mrs had the Pepperoni pizza and said it was the conkers. Good selection of beverages both alcohol and non alcoholic. Yup, all in all, very nice indeed. I was too busy eating to take photos this time.
Update December '24
I've just had Christmas dinner (3 course) Christmas selection. What can I say? There's not enough stars on here to rate it. Food was more than plentiful, perfectly cooked. Was hot when it got to the table. Service was fantastic, always someone near to get drinks etc. I've now found my perfect alternative to Christmas at home with all the trimmings. Spot on. Well done to the Manager and Staff on really pulling it out of the bag.
CHRISTMAS DINNER UPDATE!
Bare with me on this. I had heard a few negatives about last year's Christmas dinner, unfortunately this was after I booked and payed the deposit. Now I've eaten at this place more times than I can remember and never had a bad meal. I love my food and definitely know the difference between "Joe average" food and real tasty "come back for more" food! I've eaten all over the world and in some very expensive establishments. So how did The Longacre stack up?
I was a little worried that I'd made a mistake with negativity ringing in my ears. How wrong could I be. The food was amazing, presentation of the starter was a little strange but the food could not be faulted. Main course (lamb shank) cooked to perfection, accompanying veg, just how I like it, with a slight bite to it, no mush in sight. Gravy.......well, I'd bottle that and sell it over the counter! Service was first class, food arrived for each course, together and hot. Always with a smile, drinks were flowing and always someone on hand to get them. You can not improve on the service and quality of the food and occasion. The Manager and Kitchen, bar and service staff performed flawlessly. The bar has been set as high as it can go, although the piped Christmas music was a little solemn for my taste.
Overall then, it's a no brainer, I'll be doing the same...
Read moreFantastic Experience!...We asked for a table by the Window so my partner could see his food better as he's registered Blind.. We were led to our Table & asked if we would like a drink while we checked out the menu!...The Server Dave was lovely...He Explained the dishes to us & showed us which were the 2 for £10!...There was a chicken & Leek Pie & Steak & Ale pie...Fish & chips & even Grilled Fish...Also curries included!... They do a Vegan menu & they do a "Specials" for each day! For e.g. They do Certain Steaks & a Bottle of wine for 2 on a Friday for £22...All good Hearty Food!... We asked if the fish was Frozen & Dave was honest & said Yes it was defrosted the night before...So my Partner picked the Battered Fish & chips & I chose Lasagne!...My partner thoroughly enjoyed it & said it was very tasty!...I had the Strawberry Mocktail which was really refreshing!...Dave explained the Strawberry "cordial" they Normally use was not available but they had a Strawberry & Rhubarb one which I really enjoyed!...it did cost extra for the lemonade instead of soda which totalled around £3.25 for one drink which is quite expensive I think for what it was...but it was a nice change from the lime & soda I normally have!...The Lasagne was tasty but a bit more sauce would have been nice...I enjoyed the salad the Lasagne came with...You can choose a smaller salad & a slice of garlic bread instead for free which is a nice choice!...My partner was asked if he wanted Bread & Butter with his Fish & Chips which he chose!...This was extra! Around £1.35 I think...it Was Crusty bread which was warm & he enjoyed that!...There was a choice of Mushy or garden peas!...The main meals were 2 for £10...There was "just enough" food!...Nothing worse that too much food & lots of waste!... So onto Dessert...I was recommended the "Salted Caramel Sundae" which I had already decided on so good choice!...I could have eaten 2! Gawjus!!...My partner picked the Jam Roly poly which comes in a slab & the custard separate! He thoroughly enjoyed that too...Washed down with a pint of lager! £3+... The drinks were more expensive than the food!...Even though the meals were 2 for £10 The Bill came to £26+ & I gave Dave £30 in Total as he was a great Server!...He Thanked us for the Tip & told us to have a lovely Day...I hope he serves us every time we go in...I will ask for him personally if he's available!...Will try the Sunday lunch next time I think!...So all in all we will be back!...Very Friendly...
Read moreWe went to the longacre to get two meals two drinks I realised that we never brought the vouchers there wasn’t any in the pub. I tried my best to get a voucher off their website but failed as I wasn’t signed into my email.
The other time was when the boss was in he was polite and he actually just said we will take the 30% off
There was people coming in from nowhere it was gathering many customers. One part of the reform party asked for a coffee the barman said we don’t do them don’t know the excuse ?
I paid in advance but the barman said I will bring the drinks over wondering why I couldn’t wait for them and took them over myself
I was billed just over £37 for the food it was alright but I tasted better I would of paid about £ 22.00 with voucher. Anyway we got extra scampi instead of six we got 12.
Still it was an experience that won’t be repeated I liked talking to the reform party they came in after the radio came back on it was silent for a while then the song “ everybody wants to rule the world “
There is lots of saving with the 40% off but without it’s too expensive so please don’t forget the voucher.
It is a lovely day I bet the farmers market is going just fine. I’m thinking that’s where I should of been.
But it’s good to have food with you partner we will go out again making sure we have the vouchers.
Thanks for reading my reviews as I read yours adding a heart or a prayer it’s so good to get honest...
