Let's start with the good stuff, then the stuff that needs attention, rapidly. I've got 25 years working in tourism across Europe as a professional guide and tour operator and my partner runs a 15 bed holiday home so when people say to me "you know your shit!" - it's spelt with "your", not "you're". Atmosphere - pleasant if noisy, good outlook. Great access for disabled, part of the reason we go there, we ask for a specific table next to the toilets and door for easy access. We booked the specific table in advance. It's also in the least noisy area. We go there often. Speed of service - good even at busy times. Coffee, smoothies - great. Food - normally great, but not this time. Out of 5 of us, 3 opted for halloumi, as we normally do. But this time it was really not good. All 3 of us thought the same. It was edible, but could have been soggy polystyrene tiles cut into small squares. It was cooked ok, but just tasteless, completely tasteless. Halloumi is salty and tasty and a little crumbly in it's true form, but this was highly processed rubbish. We all thought the same. On questioning if they had changed supplier, they replied no. I said it was edible, but completely tasteless and nothing like real halloumi. Shrug of shoulders. Apparently, in later conversation, we were offered an alternative, but none of the group heard this, none of the three of the group heard this. We all left more than 50% of the halloumi. Rest of the food was great. On going to pay the bill, there was no apology, no mention of questioning the supplier, as this is where I thought the problem was and no discount or voucher for future use, or free drink, nothing, nada, zip. I was even accused of hassling other customers. Which was in reality me politley asking the people still sat at our table (we arrived on time) how long they would be as we had a 89 year old in a wheel chair and if they were going to be more than 10 inutes we would go for a drink at the bar. They immediately replied "no, it's good you said something or we would just continue chatting forever" - their reply. They had an empty table and had finished. The manager (female) replied that the food was merely my opinion (correct) and I had upset other customers. If I have a table booked for 13:15 it is not unreasonable for me to ask when it will be free given our circumstances. The reply from those sitting there shows I asked politely and said it was not a problem if they wanted to stay, we just needed to know rather than stand around. As for the response from the establishment, well, sorry, it was totally inadequate and smacked of complacency, and Ive seen plenty of that in my lifetime and know where it leads a business. So here is my opinion. I've been fair with the stars and the positive comments, it's not an angry 1 star reaction. You need to up your game with customer service when people have a genuine complaint. The halloumi was awful. As was your response. Oh and maybe better move the old extractor fan in the back car park that was leaking disgusting black oil (kitchen extractor with old cooking oil) over the walkway. That should be moved or at least hidden from view. I could put a photo up, but, see, I'm reasonable. Take a tip. We won't be back, even if...
Read moreLocation: perfect Food: good produce but put together terribly. French toast had frozen strawberries that were mushy and un appealling and looked as if a david hockney painting fell into a monet but without the appeal. Bacon was of good quality yet rock hard like brandy snaps. Sausages were very much european in taste and texture, like you would be offered in an all inclusive in albania. Bread was very good. Black pudding was bland and the poached egg was over cooked. Service: our main server was lovely, very helpful and welcoming but the waitor and other waitress was unwelcoming and rude. Drinks: cappuccino was delightful, cranberry juice was watery and bland although the orange slice was a good touch. Price: very much over priced for what we recieved.
Evaluation is that the place could be phenomenal given the right effort. We may have been on a bad day so do not totally dismiss the place.
A pig outside had a bad leg that needs attending to.
New owners from what we heard i hope they find their feet and i...
Read moreOur pre booked table for afternoon tea was still occupied when we arrived for my mums 80th birthday and we had to wait nearly half an hour to be seated. I had mentioned it was mum’s birthday on the phone and asked if they could help me make it a little bit special, the answer was a blunt ‘no!’ I’d also asked what the sandwiches on the afternoon tea would be and was told she didn’t know. I just asked her to make a note of no fish please. Two of our party didn’t drink tea or coffee and were told that there wasn’t another option included they would have to be paid for extra. The food was ok, we have had better. The service was so so. I spent over £100 to try to celebrate my mums birthday and felt completely let down after loads of...
