Came to this lovely place, The Needles, and was really looking forward to grabbing a bite with our group of 9. We were excited to see a café with a menu board, so we decided to order food for everyone.
To our surprise, 8 meals came out within 5 minutes, all clearly frozen food. I was at least hoping that the cod and chips would be fresh, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case either.
One of the meals didn’t arrive at all. When I asked about it, they tried to explain that the kitchen gets the ticket, prepares the meal, and leaves it at the pass, like I am child and that they’ll bring it out when ready. I mentioned it had been over 30 minutes for what seemed like already cooked food. I was then told it would take another 20–30 minutes because they were “busy.”
In the end, I gave up and just ate whatever was available in the display.
Bottom line: If you’re planning to eat here, either bring your own food or stick to what’s already out on display. If you’re expecting fresh, quality meals, best to avoid it that way, you won’t end up disappointed...
Read moreHaving read through the variety of bad reviews, I was somewhat apprehensive of this experience. My girlfriend however had no such qualms, indeed this was on her "to do list" on the island. She left bitterly disappointed as the staff were an absolute delight. They were clearly working very hard, whilst also maintaining a friendly and positive customer service. Looking around the portion sizes were generous and people seemed to be enjoying their food. We had a the pastie in a bag, which was pleasant if a little on the expensive side for what it was. This is unfortunately to be expected in a tourist location. Atmosphere and food, seemed to match that of a reasonable chain garden centre for reference. If you're expecting a restaurant quality experience you're better to eat elsewhere. That being said, it's perfectly acceptable for a quick lunch/snack. I left satisfied, my girlfriend begrudgingly admitted it was alright as well. Keep up...
Read moreI’m born and raised in a seaside town, where there are quality fish and chip shops all over the place. I figured, in the number 1 tourist spot that surely there would be a high quality chippy… I was really really looking forward to it. I walked into Marconi’s and alarm bells started to ring, it felt like I was in a high school canteen. Saw they had cod and chips on the menu and I thought SURELY it’s fresh, surely it’s high quality considering this was the main attraction of a very small island.
Oh boy, was I disappointed. I saw something which I thought was a chicken Kiev… turns out THAT was the cod 😂 paid £14ish I think for a meal that I took one bite of and just left it on the table. Please, do NOT order from this place, the food is 100% all frozen, low quality tasteless food and the portions are also hilariously bad (that’s probably a good thing though considering...
