Both enjoyed our visit. Service was friendly, accommodating & prompt (Ricky) Steaks good and enjoyed the deserts we both had. Positivity comparible to the Half Way House were steak is concerned. Slightly pricier but a more favourable dinning atmosphere. Occasionally at the HWH seating can be near the pool table end of the restaurant, and having to listen to the local patrons swearing and carousing is rather off putting. Would have to recommend Millers and Carter's based on our experience. The only critique was on behalf of a couple on the next table. They both ordered medium rare steaks, but the ladies was obviously medium to medium well (same cut) When they raised this, an attendant or chief (robotically) explained that this was to M&C's standards. To my eyes there was a standout difference in how the to indentical cuts had been cooked. You'd think the paying customer standards and expectations would be paramount, especially in the face such an obvious difference. Don't know if any kind of remidiation or discount was offered to the couple, but if not I suspect they'd have lost that couples future custom.

Had a fantastic evening meal at Miller and Carter Grimsby last night. I have dined at a Miller and Carter before (a couple of years ago) and found the automated phone booking system fast and simple, and handy as we only enquired an hour before arriving. Upon arrival we were treated to a venue that had a brilliant ambience and received excellent and attentive service throughout our meal. Our group of 5 were served in timely fashion and were given some great advice regarding the menu. I ordered a 10oz Angus sirloin and had it as recommended (medium rare, instead of my usual rare). It was superb. The accompaniments were good but not quite upto the same standard. After our mains we were tempted into some desserts and I had double chocolate ice cream and cookies with chocolate sauce. Like my main the portion size was neither skimping or overbearing and well presented. Overall this is a great restaurant with service to match and quality food that matches the price, a definite visit for a steak lover.

Let me start by saying the steaks were lovely, very nicely cooked and excellent quality. However it was little things that let our visit down. For instance, everything was served on cold plates, so the steaks were cold before we could finish them. Ordering was a pain as the sharing platters had to have each item entered separately and there was much confusion over what was included. Parts of the meal were missing The creamed spinach tasted very odd, as if the cream had turned, but the serving staff could seem to understand that and kept asking us if we didn't like cream or spinach Finally we were very rushed, our table was booked for 7:30, we were rushed to order and it made sense when the kitchen started closing down as soon as our food was delivered and waitin by staff were cleaning tables and the restaurantas we were eating, and almost as soon as we'd finished eating we were bought the bill. All in all, good food served in a poor atmosphere.

We came to celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary and we unfortunately did not enjoy our evening. It didn’t appear to by very busy with only the first half of the restaurant being used, we chose to have drinks in the bar first as we arrived early but were told that our table was already ready for us despite us arriving early. We had our drinks and were then seated at approx 6:20pm to the left of the toilets, the restaurant itself was quite chilly and so my wife actually didn’t remove her coat throughout our meal, a few of the other guests sat around us were also wearing jackets. At 18:30pm we both ordered some more drinks and our food, nearly 40 minutes later at exactly 19:06 our scallops arrived at the table, when we had finished our starters we put our plates at the end of the table, where it took a while for them to be removed, we then waited for our main courses to come out, they arrived at the table at exactly 19:37pm, however the tomato on both plates was cooked but stone cold, as was the onion loaf on both plates, the seasoned fries on one plate were lukewarm warm at best and one of the steaks was over cooked. We have visited miller and carter on several occasions and know that this is not the usual standard, so was waiting for the server to come back a few moments later to ask how our meal was as they usually do however she never appeared and in the meantime our meals were getting colder than they already were when they arrived, so we decided to eat them. We had noticed that there only appeared to be one server in the restaurant and short of getting up and going to look for someone there really wasn’t an awful lot we could have done at that point. I think with our table being around the corner and out of sight we were almost forgotten about. We paid nearly £130 for our meal and drinks and left the restaurant very disappointed at 20:15pm. We spent nearly 2 hours seated at the table and unfortunately cannot understand why it took so long for us to have 2 courses, as I said above we have been to the miller and carter a good few times and it has always been our first choice for a more special, up market evening and we have dined here on much busier nights and have never waited so long for food and have never had issues with how inattentive the staff have been. Unfortunately when asked by our friends and family how our meal was it has been described as a more pub grub like experience on...

First time at Miller & Carter. Came with friends who had been before and loved it. Much roomier inside than it looks, tastefully decorated and quite pleasant. The service was excellent and our server Yasmine was very attentive & friendly but not intrusive. There was a longish delay between some courses but not enough to question as it gave you time to chat rather than having your food thrown at you as if they wanted you in and out we never felt any pressure that way. We cannot fault the food in any way at all. First course scallops with crispy bacon and apple sauce (okay I will say we thought the apple sauce was an odd combo to have with scallops but didn't affect the enjoyment of them). Then had the simplest of things next, a wedge of iceberg lettuce with honey & mustard dressing and bacon pieces. My god this was delicious and I would never think of eating iceberg like that! Fab. Main course I had 16oz rib-eye steak and my wife had an 8oz filet steak. They recommend the ribeye medium and the filet medium-rare however when it came the ribeye was more medium-rare which is actually how I prefer it and it just melted in my mouth. My wife's filet was equally as lovely. On recommendation from our friends we had beef dripping gravy and red wine gravy in a pot and a slice of onion loaf both amazing tasting. The chunky chips were cooked just right, crispy on outside and fluffy in the middle. Desserts were chocolate brownie, chocolate orange bomb and New York cheesecakes all totally delicious. Drinks and cocktails really nice. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable evening and really could not pick fault with anything. Value for money? We thought so, maybe not for a regular visit but for a special treat as the bill came to £140 per couple but the ladies had two cocktails each which add up, but saying that we had a meal at The Ship Inn at Barnoldby le Beck a few months ago and that came to £120 for two so in the context of things not that bad and the quality of food and service top class. Well recommended and...

Me and a group of friends had decided to go to miller and carter as we had not seen each other in a while, service from the waitress was lovely with her being kind and patient with us. Once everyone’s food had arrived one of my friends noticed that his steak was well done rather than medium rare, if this had been the only mistake we would have probably accepted it and moved on with our evening, it’s a steak house and a big order so a small mistake such as that is understandable, however my other friend had ordered a chicken and bacon burger with the bacon removed due to his religion. This was not a big ask and should of been simple to do however this was not fulfilled and my friend, who has very strong religious beliefs and follows his religion closely, was mortified to find he had been eating bacon. When he complained he was told (very rudely I might add) there was no bacon in his burger by the chef as they had it on the side in the kitchen but yet my friends order could point it out and show it to the members of staff. He was then given a second burger and was told it was free of charge which I would see as the bare minimum as it is the staff who hadn’t done their job. My friend then complained, not looking for a refund but simply an apology he was not given one by the chef who instead said this will not happen again. As for atmosphere I personally felt we were forced out due to staff members polishing glasses at tables while we were eating and all kitchen lights being turned off before we had finished ordering. It was a very quick decision after parting ways that we would not be returning and I would struggle to recommend it to anyone else due to poor atmosphere, poor treatment of customers, and somewhat...
