A few friends had recommended this cafe, fabulous cream teas and sandwiches, brilliant staff so we were a little shocked on our first visit to come across a staff member that obviously didn’t want to work that day. We weren’t greeted nicely at all, just shouted across from behind counter ‘ have you got a reservation? We said we hadn’t so she replied we could sit at the table we were near. Menus bought over, no smiles. A table of two stood to pay their bill (only 3 tables in the shop being used) they were ignored and stood there waiting for a good 5 minutes. Served on a mini picnic table, it is daunting, but the individual items are all well thought out and nothing is below par. They also offer a children's tea that had my granddaughters eyes open wide. They will offer you boxes at the end so don't panic.. It's small and you have to book the afternoon tea in advance, but well worth it. Other options looked good and the service was excellent. If there is a slight negative it is that the toilet is up a few steps. But they are shallow and have wide treads....

Food was ok, although the cakes are sitting out uncovered, but the coffee was nothing special. Were not made to feel welcome at all despite booking a table. Answers to questions were curt at best, if not downright rude. Don’t know why they have a cafe if they dislike customers as much as they quite blatantly show. Do not recommend.
