Oakley Hay Beefeater — Restaurant in England

Arrived at 7, told there were no tables for 45 mins. Faite enogh. Yet i look around and see 12 or so empty tables. Go to the bar while i wait for my table, 45 minutes pass while I wait, only 1 table is then occupied of the 12. 🤔 Ordering my beer at the bar, i thought i must have punched the staff member in the face but not remembered or maybe in a past life. Rude server, no hello, thanks, or anything. Grumpy and short. I said hello and tried to make conversion, like a normal human. Nothing. Sat down at an empty table while i wait for 45 minutes. I'm still not sure about the 12 empty tables, maybe ghost guests? The floor and tables were dirty, food, and tissue over the place. Chairs scattered, laying down on the floor. Staff just walked past. Sat at 'the eating table', apposed to the waiting for eating table table. The service from the server was good, polite, and as you would expect. Looking around the room, hygienically NO!!!, the kitchen serving hatch hadn't been cleaned or dusted for some time. Weeks maybe. Dust all over the rails and monitors, old splattered food on the heat lamps, and serving hatched. Opened mayo and brown sauce, left for some time (how long i have no idea) it was open when we got there, 1 hour later still open. Not long after we finished our main, we were aked to move as the staff wanted to set up the breakfast area for the morning, at 9.30pm, no request for dessert or anoyher drinks, they dont shut for another 1.5 hours. We moved, 15 minutes later, the table was still there.

Went to the toilet, 'toilet closed, please use other toilet' fare enough. Locate the toilet, disabled lift blocked as the staff use it for storage, lets hope someone with mobility issues doesnt need to use the washroom. Maybe they can snack on the condiments while they wait

Stench of cigarettes in the hall, toilets and upstairs. Smelt like someone was smoking a pack of 1980s cigarettes, like a chimney. 🤮

To say the least, this restaurant is not 4⭐️, i would say maybe for effort, but....it wasn't witnessed by the team.

I will not be visiting this restaurant again. Health and safety issue, hygiene issues, service issues. Maybe another restaurant can provide the basics, having conciderstion for quests and people with mobility issues that may need to use...

We celebrated our nephews 18th birthday with family here. From the moment we sat down Rachel our waitress for the evening made sure we would enjoy visiting. She worked endlessly taking drink and food orders refilling glasses delivering the food clearing numerous tables and entertaining the kids in our party. All done with a huge smile every time we spoke to her. When we praised her she thanked us but said she just loves her job and making sure people have a great meal and time there. Such a credit to the company. On to the food. We all thought the prices were a tad high but as it was a special occasion it didn’t matter too much. One of us realised they had a voucher which cut the price down to an acceptable level. No one had starters so can’t comment on them. We didn’t have one complaint on any of the main courses which ranged from fish n chips beef n ale pie to chicken burgers and mixed grills. Everything was brought out together and for a party of 19 that’s some feat. It was plentiful well presented well cooked and hot. Not much left on any of the plates. Only a few had desserts as most didn’t have room after the mains. The Biscoff sundae seemed to be most popular and at £6.99 a bit expensive but overall opinion was that they were delicious. Would we return? Definitely if we had a voucher or for a special occasion. But we’d have to sit where Rachel could serve us! I only hope Rachel gets the recognition she deserves from...

We've been here 3 Sunday's in a row now and each time have ordered the same Beef roast dinner and each time it tastes different! Last week was beautiful, great meat, great roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and awesome gravy but this week it was not. The gravy tasted salty, the potatoes were strange tasting (I can't even describe it) and even though we requested all the meats (there was 3 adults, 2 children) to be cooked medium to well (top tip, never order well done as it will come out burnt and tough) and the kids came out pretty much rare and the adults was perfect! We sent it back of course for then the plate being so scolding hot but being placed in front of a child!! Obviously they must of left the plates under the hot lamp whilst the placed the meat back on the grill but surely they could of just re plated it for them so it wouldn't cause a possible accident? Luckily we noticed the waitress using a tea towel to deliver our plates and tested the temperature ourselves as she never mentioned them being hot!! We'll try them again of course coz maybe they were having an off day as usually they are good! 1 more note to add, I have NOT visited yet where they have had the full menu on offer! EVERY time I've been, the waitress has always said "just to let you know, today we do not have X, Y, Z...
