What a shame I really felt it necessary to leave this bad review today. We ordered chicken burgers, to be fair the menu did not state chicken breast but for me it is normally expected that on a burger it is breast. The fat running through it was unbelievable and the chunks of fat I just couldn’t eat. I had to find the ok pieces of meat and put them back into the bun and leave the rest. Three of us had the same burger and all felt the same, couldn’t finish it and left a bad taste in our mouths. Such a shame as we have been coming here since it opened, it was so busy and difficult to approach someone about it so we left but for £16 it was a joke, if you wanted bacon or chips that was all at an extra cost. I felt nothing would be done if I did say anything as I have mentioned before about the number of dogs, never given a bad review but thought I’ll actually email. I asked if they could just have dogs maybe only on one side and outside as so many times we walk in and they are everywhere and not just small well behaved dogs but very large dogs wondering around their table and others as the tables are so close together. For someone who has been attacked by a dog, scared of dogs and allergic to some I feel it unfair and unhygienic. I was told they would discuss it at their next meeting but not feedback and that was at least 6 months ago and nothing has changed. We always go back because even though it is expensive we love the food but now the food is not even up to scratch.

Popped in today with my mom. Have drove passed lots of times so we decided to pay a visit and we weren’t disappointed. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Lady taking our order was very friendly and she told me all about the carrot and lentil soup, which was on the menu today it came with sourdough toast and croutons my mom said how lovely it was. I had the mushrooms on toast which was in a creamy cheese sauce. So tasty there was a lot to get through. I had my eye on all the delicious cakes but we were so full so maybe next time because we will definitely be back. We went on a weekday and it was extremely busy but we managed to get a table for two no problem. Parking was very busy but I managed to park on the rabbit run side. We used to go here when our girls were little when it was the Royal Oak so it was lovely to see how it is being used now. I’ve told the hubby we will be going soon😄 I didn’t take any photos of the food I was too busy eating it but I took this photo of the beautiful fireplace as you walk in🙂

I kept looking at this place when I drove past but the car park was always full. I managed to get there today and took my mom. It's really small inside, and I notice a lot of the tables were already booked. On entry we were greeted immediately and taken to a table for two. We had scones with jam and cream and a coffee. I also took 4 cakes away for the family. I have to say, the cakes looked amazing and feedback from family were that they tasted amazing too. I tried the lemon and blueberry cake, fresh moist and worth the price tag. 4 take away cakes, I think was £14.50. The breakfast menu looked good but I did notice they only did smoked bacon which I don't like. I will definitely go again. Very popular though, so may book ahead.

We have been really excited to visit for such a long time & today we finally got round to being able to visit. We had read really amazing reviews and seen some great photos, so our expectations were high. On arrival parking was easy, we arrived at 10.40am. On entry the place was busy, but plenty of seating available. In our opinion a few too many tables as some were extremely close together, a lady knocked over the knifes & folks on another table taking her coat off they were so close together. We sat down but the table wasn't very clean, felt like crumbs and we could see sugar grains on the table and drink stains. The noise, wow!. It's hard to have a conversation as the place throws the sound around but it was warm inside and we were excited to finally be here. We ordered a full English and some coffee & tea. The waitress on the till was lovely, really friendly and helpful. Our drinks were brought over fairy quickly but they were not very hot. We didn't want to bother the staff as they were so busy and it wasn't like they were cold just not hot. There was an average wait time for the food which we were happy with but when it arrived we were quite shocked. The breakfast was £12 each, so definitely above average cost. The plates were very small and again, the food was not hot. There was this enormous sausage, streaky bacon, poached egg, fresh tomatoe in ½, small amount of beans, very small amount of spinach, 2 small mushrooms, 1 slice of toast & some potatoes all on this very small plate. For the price we were expecting it to be amazing and it just wasn't. The sausage was not pleasant, it tasted cheap, I took mine and my mothers home for dog as we didnt want to eat it. The bacon was very salty, i couldn't finish it, potatoes were ok, some were hard so most of these were left. The egg was good, tomatoe good, spinach very unpleasant taste & the toast was nice. overall we were really disappointed. Had anyone come over to check how the food was we would have told the staff but nobody did. Tables were not being cleared and two members of staff plus the chef were constantly going outside on their phones so we didn't feel we could tell anyone. I used the loo before leaving, the bathroom wasn't very clean, it needed a really good dust!. Dust on the sides, all on the bin lid and the top of the tap was on the floor. It wasn't dirty but very dusty. We unfortunately will not be returning due to the over inflated cost for very average food, noisy atmosphere & it wasn't as clean as we...

Distinctly average food with well below average service

Food took about 30 minutes or so to come out. Absolutely fine, I was made aware of the wait and it was a busy Saturday morning. When it arrived, I was missing 2 items of my breakfast. I asked straight away and it was sorted promptly and my breakfast soon came back out complete. Unfortunately by time it came out correctly it was just the wrong side of warm and had gone cold. My poached egg was hard and overcooked and the spinach was gritty - most likely not washed properly (if at all). All this could be put down to a bad day in the kitchen (I’ve been there) but it’s not great when service is totally lacking. The staff were all friendly enough but totally inattentive and seemed to lack any proactive attitude. The food wasn’t great but no one actually came back to ask so I couldn’t report it. I was wrestling a toddler alone so getting up again to go to the bar wasn’t really an option. The staff also failed to clear any empty plates or cups, leaving the table cluttered and hard to handle with a toddler. This included when the food was put down and 2 members of staff passed my table without stopping - I tried to get their attention but they just kept walking. When our plates were cleared there still wasn’t any communication from the staff or even checking how the food was and even then, my empty cups were not cleared. Icing on the cake when you walk out, past 2 members of staff, 1 was literally in the doorway out and there was no goodbye or even acknowledgement of our existence. We also had a 15 minute wait for a pot of tea. Which just seemed a bit too long even for a busy Saturday. The coffee was fine, average at best. Nothing wrong but nothing to shout about. The highlight was my daughters banana porridge - that was really lovely! The prices seem about right for the style of place but when you’re charging £12 for a breakfast it needs to be better than average. This place was a 40 minute journey to get to and we headed over based on a personal recommendation to me - I certainly won’t be making the journey again. Nothing to suggest this is a decent destination place or worth the hassle of travelling that far. There are endless places closer to home that do a better place. Feels like it would benefit from an experienced manager to pull it all together...
