Parsons’ Barn - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in England

AVOID THIS BRANCH! Our order duplicated on the app and within 30 seconds my partner went up to the till to cancel one of her burgers, to be told by a member of staff that ‘they’ve already started cooking it so can’t do anything about that’ not one single apology, her attitude was disgusting. Once my partner arrived back at the table we spoke to a ‘manager’ who said they can’t do anything because of the t&c’s on the app but will speak to another manager. Once the manager Anita came over there was still not one apology or concern over our order. To my surprise I had asked if I were to complain about my meal being cold/not right ect and I want a full refund I was told she would not give me one because she knows it was to get my money back for the other meal!!! At this point I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at how pathetic this all is. Surely a free desert or drink could have been a consolation but no, that’s clearly wishful thinking. You’d think during these difficult times we would look out for one another. I have worked in hospitality for 11 years and no way would I speak to treat a customer the way we’ve been treated. My self amd my partner come here quite often and normally everything is perfect, food, drinks and the staff are so nice. Today (30/06/17) unfortunately was different, got there and ordered food, we got two starters and two mains, which came both at the same time , on a very small table which was a tight squeeze, also they have started to carry the plates with lottle.black rubber hand protectors for the heat, which was laying across my food( i have many allergies so this extremely was concerning for myself). I ordered a steak at medium rare and it came overly well done, to the ppoint wuere the edges were like leather, my partner ordered a burger ( empire state burger) and felt quite ill afterwards and the bun was soaked through with grease.

The Parsons Barn is a very good Whetherspoons. The building is lovely and historic yet well maintained, clean and atmospheric and accessible for wheelchairs or prams. The food compares favourably to other 'Spoons in that it is slightly hotter and fresher and always comes with good service. You can always expect the drinks menu to be extensive, toilets clean, tea and coffee good and the food surprisingly good value. I personally recommend a pint of bitter, a pizza (as they are very tasty) washed down with a dessert and bottom tea/coffee for afters. The front patio is nice if the weather permits

My only gripes would be that the avocado in the salads is always a bit off putting, I can only imagine they defrost it from the freezer as it's tough and rubbery. And also that dogs aren't allowed even outside. My dog is far better behaved than some of the clients :) The menu has also had some nice entries taken off, such as the pancakes with fruit or the smoked salmon bagel, but maybe they had their...
