We came here a few years back and had cheese and onion pie and didn't really rate it. Came again this week to try something different, wife went for a burger which she enjoyed and I had the steak and ale pie, wow was it good, probably the best pie I have ever had! The gravy was so rich, meat was perfect as was the pastry, I'd highly recommend that! Plenty big enough carpark although it was tight in the car I had from work, there was only a dozen customers in so was quiet, customer service was great and everywhere looked clean. Well worth a try if you're in the area.

Lovely family meal, tastefully decorated for Christmas with well maintained real log fires all add to the atmosphere/ ambience. Pleasant, friendly and attentive( but not overly so) waiting on staff. Food was tasty and freshly cooked, piping hot, small portions available on done dishes( but appear to be an average sized portion... goodness knows what the normal size would be). Vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. On the whole, a nice quaint traditional country pub, well worth a visit, with plenty of parking space.

Lovely pub with a garden front and rear in the sun. Lots to choose from on the menu. Myself and friends all had the same meal which was ceasar salad with chicken and a side of fries. There was plenty of chicken and the ceasar sauce was delicious. The croutons were a bit soggy and could have been crunchier, but I would order this again. We had a bottle of Rose between us. The staff were lovely and very friendly. Dogs are welcome. There is a car park.

They have a no under 5s policy. that in of itself seems a bit ridiculous but the reason for my negative review is not the policy per se, but because there's no information about this online and even if you book over the phone and speak to someone to arrange a booking they don't inform you of any conditions or restrictions or check you do not have an under 5 in the booking. instead they think it's appropriate to let you turn up with no idea there's going to be a problem and then tell you in front of said child that you are all not welcome because of the child being with you. they don't care about wasting your time getting there, ruining your plans, leaving you hungry and with no obvious alternative. but worse they don't care about how this might actually cause a lot of upset for a child who will be fully cognisant of the rejection and it's completely a choice by their own making because of how they do not make sure this policy is known and, as confirmed on the phone to me, even if they made the error of forgetting to advise of their policy at the time of booking they would effectively accept no responsibility for this mistake and would still ask you to leave causing upset and confusion for a young child who obviously wouldn't be able to comprehend why they were not welcome there. it's frankly a nasty way to do business - leaving children hungry and humiliated as a matter of policy, so i wouldn't support this venue with or without children in future and i also won't go to any of its sister Robinsons pubs again in...

Having read the many positive reviews I booked a table for my wife and I to dine here last Saturday evening. The menu although basic had plenty of choice I ordered the pork fillet on a bed of mash with fresh veg, my wife chose the steak pie. These arrived after a short wait, unfortunately we both felt that some of the food was far from hot the veg was barely warm, we asked that this be addressed. Our plates were taken away to the kitchen to be reheated. When my pork returned the mash was now hot, however my wife's veg was no different still barely warm, they took hers away again but it when returned there was no difference. Not wanting to loose the food again we suggested they bring a separate plate of veg, it arrived and astonishingly that too was also barely warm! By now she had lost here appetite (a shame as her Steak Pie was really very good) in the end she actually only ate about half her meal. To finish I had the Chocolate Marquise, very tasty. When we asked for the bill we suggested that they should make a reduction for the poor service, this did not happen! When discussing this with the manageress instead of an apology we got an argument. I've learnt from running my own business for many years its never possible to "win" an argument with a customer much better to accept a complaint and go fix the...

I took my 90-year-old grandmother out for a meal—her first in years—hoping for a special and enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, the experience was anything but.

From the moment we arrived, we were met with an unwelcoming demeanour, setting a cold and uncomfortable tone for the evening. To make matters worse, we were seated right by the front door, where it was noticeably colder, while a large business party occupied the back of the restaurant.

Service was abysmal. The wait times between courses were painfully long, and despite multiple staff members passing by, not a single one checked in on us. Eye contact was avoided entirely, making it clear where their priorities lay. It was evident that the larger group at the back was the focus, and while I understand that’s where the bigger tips come from, it shouldn’t be so obvious that other customers are an afterthought. We, too, were there to enjoy a special evening, yet we were made to feel like second-class guests.

To top it off, they completely forgot our dessert order, forcing us to request it a second time. I hope that the tips were worth this...
