We were very disappointed yesterday evening. Now we have been coming here for years from young children, as we grew up in weedswood. And we know the owner Toni and have done for many years and we have never ever had any issues here in the past. The food is usually outstanding, staff are generally polite but yesterday evening we made a booking for a family meal. We came in to be standing at the door for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to approach us and sit us at our table, the staff acknowledged us several times but still made no effort to come over to us which resulted in us going over to the bar to find out where are table was. As soon as we walked in the pub, everyone just stared over at us like we were inhuman and I genuinely feel it was because my husband is foreign. We were receiving vile looks. We then ordered our food and drinks that came to £65. And when the food arrived we was so disappointed. We ordered a meal from the menu that didn’t state it had cinnamon on top on the menu, it was chicken and the chef had literally just threw cinnamon powder on top it was absolutely disgusting. We then asked if we could have the same again without the cinnamon due to an allergic reaction. Which when we ordered at the bar we was not asked if there is any allergies anyway, but even if we were it was not stated on the menu so how can we be aware. The manager on that shift then came over looked at us like absolute filth. And said we can’t do you that again you can have something from the pub classics which are £8 now we had just paid nearly £15 for the meal. So we refused, and he said that we should of logged onto the app and looked for allergic reactions before ordering never ever have I experienced such bad customer service and another lady in the pub witnessed all of this and came over to us and acted said good on you as she noticed the way we were treated. In the end my husband asked for a burger and chips and was up all night throwing it up anyway. My sister whom also asked for steak medium it was raw inside. Now we own 3 businesses which to one is a restaurant and never ever would we treat any customer in this way. Genuinely if someone isn’t happy with their food it gets replaced. Not every excuse made. We also added on our booking we needed one high chair that we never got The manager then went back over the bar complaining and speaking very high to the other staff looking over at our table which is very unprofessional and made us feel very uncomfortable at this point. The management is very very poor and so is the staff here now and it’s such a shame as I used to love this pub. And they used to be very respectful and welcoming. And in regards to the chef he clearly doesn’t know how to cook. So I am not happy at all with our experience. And I will be reporting to...
Read moreWe came here during the lunch time rush so have put in the consideration that it was during a busy period that we came to have our lunch. That being said we of course had made a reservation for myself, my husband and our twin 2 year olds. We had reserved a table for 4 with the request of 2 high chairs due to our toddlers. (Any restaurant we have gone to always specifies to count those who use high chairs in the table number, so we done this assuming it was the same here). Positives: Food was speedy, tasted good and portion sizes were generous. Value for money is certainly here. Negatives: Parking isn't great, and there are massive signs reminding you to log your number plate, but no instruction on how to do so. If you don't register your number plate you will be fined for parking at this establishment. After standing around waiting to be seated we were finally seen to -again it was busy so waiting was not really an issue. However we were shown to our table and the waiter then just walked off. No explanation of how ordering food was done consider this place is either order at bar or order via app which would have been useful information. I also had to chase the waiter down because we didn't have highchairs. Once this was sorted we sat down opted to order via the app due to the que at the bar, all very straight forward and easy. My next issue is the gender biased baby changing facilities. My husband took our daughters to get their nappies changed whilst waiting between starters and mains, to which he had no access to baby changing as well as no signage anywhere to suggest there was even baby changing facilities here. When I then later needed to use the restroom I went into the ladies to see straight away a changing table. Fathers are parents too, and how do you expect them to change their child if they aren't provided with the facilities to do so. We had a good look around and didn't see any disabled/baby changing toilets, which means the only individuals who can change their babies are the ones who can use the women's toilet. Not to go into too much detail about personal circumstances but I currently am unable to change my children in the public toilets as I am unable to lift them onto the tables. So my husband had to resort to changing my daughters in a men's toilet cubicle avoiding laying them on the floor. This lack of accessibility is very disappointing in this day and age. Lastly the overall vibe of this establishment is very overwhelming during busy times. So if your an individual who can get overwhelmed in public settings then check to see what the quiet times are. As when it calmed down during our meal it was a much better environment...
Read moreTerrible! Worse than terrible! Couldn't order at the bar so had to go looking for someone to place order with as we were waiting so long, it's not like the place was busy either, I guess I know the reason why! So myself and my partner ordered starter, main course and dessert. The starter came out, a sharing platter. Most of the starter was really nice, only 1 complaint and that is that the nachos were deep fried! Who the heck deep fries nachos anyway?! Our main courses came out when we were less than halfway through our starter. No offer to take it away and keep it warm or, as they should have done, thrown it away and started again from scratch AFTER checking we were ready for it. Instead it got put on our small table for 2 (not even an offer to move us to a larger table to accommodate for having more than we should have had). We then had to rush our starter to make sure the main was still warm enough to eat. I ordered salmon with side salad and Coleslaw. There was no Coleslaw and the salmon had been microwaved for far too long (it shouldn't have been microwaved at all) and was completely tasteless. The mixed veg that came with the salmon was microwaved also, to the point of being mush. My partner ordered a mixed grill with medium rare steak and burger. His steak was more medium / well done and was practically inedible for fat. It didn't matter how much he chewed on it, it wasn't breaking down, so he ended up having to swallow mulched up fat. The burgers had been microwaved and / or deep fried, they were cooked almost to a crisp on the outside edges and still pasty pale and cool in the middle, again inedible. The desserts were just OK, my syrup sponge pudding and custard was, again, microwaved and his millionaire cheesecake and ice cream couldn't really have been messed up as they just had to take it out of the freezer! 1 star for the starter, as as nice as it was we weren't actually allowed to enjoy eating it. It appears that everything, apart from my partner's dessert, was either microwaved or deep fried. Maybe the chef was just having an off day or was off sick so they got someone in off the streets to cover! Either way I definitely wouldn't go again and definitely...
