Restaurant at La Fosse - Cranborne — Restaurant in England

A group of 9 went for my Dad's 70th. We pre-ordered the tasting menu and they were very accomodating with our dietary requirements. We arrived early for a drink in the very cute private garden - they were lots of options including cocktails and non-alcoholic options. We sat down to dinner and had 6 wonderful courses. Everyone loved it and we were impressed with the list of where all the ingredients were from on the back of the menu. The wine flight was very well paired matching each course spectacularly. The service was super friendly and very welcoming from the beginning, they even put a candle on the sweet dessert so we could sing happy birthday. Thank you very much for looking after us! Quite a strange experience, sat in a corner by the fire as we walked in, waited quite some time to be sat at a table which were mostly empty so not sure whe we weren't sat at a table from the beginning. Food was poor. Unseasoned and I had a pie which was like soup with the amount of liquid in it. As for service although they were friendly and pleasant we had to ask for our glasses to be filled once empty, ask for napkins, not the end of the world. But a little more attention to minor details like this go a long way. I paid by cash and my change wasn't given. Ended up leaving in the end and going for a drink to the pub across the road. I would not recommend this restaurant personally as we also traveled a long way to dine there based on the current high star reviews....

We had a very memorable meal at La Fosse last night. Great service, atmosphere and delicious food. We had three courses, all of which were excellent. Fresh local ingredients and a clever chef all helped to produce the best meal we’ve had in many years. We even got to talk to the chef/owner on our way out, when we were able to pass on our compliments! If we were local we’d be visiting regularly. (We live in Kent) When we’re next in Dorset we’ll...
