A vibrant pub with Lashings of atmosphere.|Really noisy, vibrant and very busy.||The room was basic but clean, tidy and comfortable. The bed was one of the most comfortable I can remember, I canāt say the same for the seat in the room. sleeping in and the pillows softer than a uk customs officer. |No air con and the windows on room 1 overlooks the small pub courtyard where everybody gathered to drink and laugh. With the window open, itās very noisy but the pub shuts about 11pm as soon as does the noise.|The walls are away for Sign so if youāre going there with a new bride, be considerate of the other guest cause you can hear everything.|The TV is the size of a postage stamp so donāt pin your hopes on having something to do. You wonāt be able to see it and the sound coming out of it. Itās indistinguishable so you wonāt be able to hear it. It must be the smallest television Iāve ever seen in any room anywhere in the world utterly useless.||The shower was adequate Hot and good pressure. The toilet worked well and the water from the sink whilst very hot there was a warning posted.|Food;|The food was nothing less than spectacular. I ordered the chicken curry which took an age to cook fresh and arrive I needed to shave before I could eat again. It took so long but they were very busy but let me tell you it was worth it. The food was spectacular. It arrived the best presented Iāve seen in a long time everything was piping hot and it tasted delicious Looking around the pub It was very busy because of the food they do and everyone seemed to be very happy with the food they were getting even the cheeseburgers looked great. A nice selection of beers. I had the Italian beer which was cold and fresh and delivered in an appropriate glass. The table were clean if a little sticky and I sat in the corner watching everything going on in the pub with all the locals this is the place where the village centres and they were intent on watching Wimbledon that night. It was a really good vibe in the pub and I donāt think this was a one off.||Parking; parking is across the road. It doesnāt look terribly secure so if youāve got valuables on show in the car, just out of sensibility put them in the boot not that the village is rough. Thereās no indication. Thereās any crime here at all just sensibility says hide your stuff. The pub is midway between Wadebridge in Western Cornwall and Port isaac, the place where they filmed Dr Martin and although Iāve stayed at Port Isaac many many times next time I will stay at this pub they were very welcoming very warm very busy youāll need to be a bit patient with getting your beer. The room took a long time to get access to because they werenāt expecting me None of this is a complaint. I had a really great time there. The people were lovely. The food was fantastic. The room was comfortable. I left in the morning. Breakfast was superb. I had scrambled egg and it was fresh and cooked beautifully toast was immaculate Golden. Donāt hesitate to book this place. The ring o bells, Saint...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you want a good nights sleep in a quiet room with a comfortable bed this is absolutely not the place for you. Add to it a host who when asked about the noise after the closing time replies "If you don't want noise don't sleep in a pub" says it all. It was clear to us that the landlord was much more at home having a laugh with his mates than having any consideration for his paying guests. To add to this although the room was clean the bed was very uncomfortable, although sleep was not an option anyway until the landlord finally closed up after 11pm. Breakfast comprised a couple of crossaints in plastic bags some cereals (the porridge needing hot milk which was a challenge with nothing to heat it) and all left in the room. The dinner menu was varied but what we chose was bland and expensive. Overall a very dissapointing experience not to be repeated and very poor value for money unless you are celebrating in the pub and want to crash out after everyone has left and the landlord has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWORST PUB MEAL I HAVE EVER BEEN SERVED. Scampi was bread crumbed grey cylinders of fish shaped mush, not even Iceland standard. Starters over priced and poor quality, no-one else eating on a Sunday evening in July should tell you a lot! Greasy chips, cheap quality cottage pie. So expensive. Ā£16.95 for fish & chips, Ā£15.50 for cheap nasty āscampiā, frozen Iceland style starters Ā£10 each. Felt completely ripped off. Skipped desserts, not surprised pubs are going out of business when some are serving this type of cheap crap. Menu online with homemade crab cakes, fish basket and homemade brownies and sundaes is apparently 4 years old according to the staff. What a shame the ownership changed but what a scam to keep an old menu up years after it has been swopped for...
