This place is simply beautiful. This was not our first visit, in fact it was our sixth or seventh. Everytime we visit, we fall a little bit more in love with the place. The pub is good Craic, Aaron and hannah and Paul and liz in the kitchen do a fantastic job. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly, and you do really feel like your having a pint in your local. Nothing is too much trouble and this includes the ferry men who get you backwards and forwards.

The island is stunning and steeped in history. This part of the cumbria coast line is really still very unspoilt and I often wonder why its not visited as often as other parts of the county.

The camping facility although still basic is more than adequate and at a fiver a night whats not to like ! Honestly can not recommend it enough and can not wait for...

We enjoyed our food there, I went for the veg barbeque and my wife went for a meat one, we would highly recommend those. Parents went for potted Morcambe Bay shrimp and loved it. Food for kids had no complaints either.

I've been going to Piel for nearly 50 years and have seen a lot of changes (and a lot of lock ins in the Ship), but am happy to see many people coming to enjoy it. I was impressed by the current manager who had to deal with a Karen who seemed to want to complain about everything they had received and demanding full refund and free drinks (personally I think she was a chancer and her complaints were weak at best). Anyway, the manager dealt with it in a very professional manner and without any blood...

Fantastic experience walking across from Walney when the tide went out. Wellies definitely recommended for the walk rather than walking boots as the first few minutes of the walk is very sludgy and boggy. We managed to catch the pub's first day reopening for the 2023 season. Surprisingly busy with the nearby ferry services also restarting on the same day. Lovely old pub and a great experience with it being so remote. Friendly landlord & landlady. Prices around 10 quid for a couple of drinks and a good selection of beers, shorts etc. Shame the fire/stove wasn't on, it did make the place feel very cold, and lighting the fire would have kept people staying longer I think. Great...

The Ship Inn is doing good business well before noon on Saturday, June 21st. A cask beer Flying Elephants is on sale from Ulverston brewery, a lovely 5.7% keg IPA from Bowness & the usual Birra Moretti, Guinness, Fosters & Strongbow suspects. Friendly efficient service at the bar & best of all - the prices are very reasonable & not a rip off. The barbecue is turning out burgers & bacon butties etc etc. Card payment is no problem & the pub has a nice, light, clean & fresh airy feel about it. We Would definitely get the ferry across again when visiting Roa Island. Camping available at a fiver a tent per night. Just a lovely setting for families to relax & enjoy the lovely Piel Island.
