Summary; the staff really need some updated alllegen training. Their knowledge was very poor and I'd fear for anyone who has a seriously allergy. Sarah's law was brought in to protect people and I don't feel this cafe is taking that seriously enough.
I went in rather than use the drive through. It was clean and tidy and had a nice atmosphere. There was a great selection of sandwiched teas coffees and a really nice selection of cakes. My daughter is dairy free so I approached the counter to ask advice before ordering food. I asked the staff member what was dairy free which threw them a bit and they answered 'I don't think we have anything.' I asked if they could make a ham sandwich without dairy and they informed me all the sandwiched were brought in which is fine. I then asked which were dairy free and they didn't know. I then asked if any cakes where dairy free and they said no. I asked if they had an alllegen check list and they said yes but didn't offer it to me. At this point I was a bit fed up and decided to go check the ingredients lists of the sandwiches to see if there was anything suitable. Before I did the team member offered 'all our cakes are vegan'. So clearly if they are vegan they are dairy free??? I went to check sandwiches and turns out there were plenty of dairy free ptions. Happy again I bought some sandwiches and orders two 'vegan' cakes. Turns out not all the cakes are vegan. Aften a bit of back and too I eventually got a cake which I really hope is vegan. Luckly my daughter isn't highly allergic otherwise I would have left but I'm not looking forward to the consequences tonight if the cake she had turns out to have dairy in it.
I will say the team member did come over apologise and gave us an extra piece of cake for free which was a nice gesture.

   Read moreMe & my wife have been a few times now & each visit is gradually a worse experience. Great tea, coffee & cakes, but most of the staff should not be in customer facing roles. No hello as you approach the till, no smiles, no response when you say thank you, nothing said when they drop the order off at the table. It's very weird & unprofessional. I understand the job may be stressful, however the customer is the most important part of the transaction, being nice and showing general manners should not be an issue.
The staff always forget to give milk with the tea, as well as a teaspoon. This has happened 3 times in 3 visits. My wife asked for a glass of water and was given a glass with someone else's lipstick prints on it so clearly hadn't been washed, & the trays are often still dirty and soaking.
Cleaning a glass isn't hard. Cleaning & drying a tray isn't hard. Providing milk & a teaspoon with a pot of tea isn't hard. Being nice and showing some semblance of interaction with the customer isn't hard. These are all extremely basic requirements working in...

When our order was brought to our table it was just plonked on the table with nothing said. We looked at each other and thought that was a bit unprofessional. Then we drank our coffee and thought it was bland for a coffee shop that roasts their own beans. Really expected better. I donât complain easily, but thought I canât let this slide when you expect more from something you paid for. We were told that we will get another coffee made, but 5min later a staff member came and said that the manager said we canât have another coffee, because we already drank our coffee. My wifeâs werenât empty. I thought how short sighted from a business perspective. They could have made us a fresh cup of coffee changed our minds and would have been back for more, but they decided to send us away with a very bad experience and now Iâm writing a bad review which will have an effect on those who read reviews before they go....
