Just happened to be in the area and Sir Henry's was the closest to us. Inside the pub is really cool, staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive, service was excellent! Thought the food would have been better but it was just typical pub food, burger patty most likely came frozen in a box. The other sandwich wasn't as tasty as other places have it. On another note: The pond was low and unappealing and low water that doesn't move during hot days brings insects. The water out back around the parking area was somewhat the same which brought up concerns for the waterfowl that was resting in the low/muddy section.

A perfect place to have a meet up and Sunday lunch with our family. We travelled from Bedfordshire and our family from East Kent. The staff are excellent, service and speed of delivery great. Our lunch was really good value for money. We'll done to the kitchen and serving staff. They even brought out a cake, with candles, for my wife's birthday. A quiant 13th. Century building, very well restored with seating for many inside and even more outside in the gardens. It also has a good little play area for the kids. We definitely will be back.....

Sir Henry’s is our favourite family restaurant and a go to for a good home cooked meal. The lamb is out of this world and I love the specials menu that changes constantly. The servers always welcome us warmly with a smile and the speed is second to none with meals coming out piping hot! Thank you for being such an amazing restaurant.

My name is Karen and I am activities and wellbeing lead at ladyville lodge north ockendon

We take a group of residents out once a week and when the weather isn't so great for outdoor activities we like to have A pub lunch

We have visited several local pubs and restaurants on the last few years but NOWHERE has treated us as well as they did at sir Henry's We have never been so well looked after when we've been out by anyone!

As we were getting the residents out of the minibus a lovely lady offered to help with getting the wheelchairs off the bus

They showed us around a pathway in the beautiful garden and in through the double doors at the back where another team member warmly greeted us and we were shown to our seats the table was large and we'll set out to accommodate wheelchair users and those on frames all level and accessible to us all

Nicco and his team made sure we were all comfy and happy and he went through the specials snd recommended things on the menu and took our food and drinks orders

The food we ordered was very good well cooked and presented quality ingredients and they offer ample choice and portions

maybe a tad too much food for elderly people to manage (this is my only suggestion please don't take it as criticism) would be to maybe consider offering a lunchtime pensioners special menu with smaller portions) but this would literally be the only thing I'd change about the place

They were happy enough to take cash and also kindly organised individual personalised receipts for each resident for the homes records

Their hospitality and thoughtfulness certainly made the experience easier for me as the organiser (it is hard work in so many places) meaning I could relax and enjoy the meal myself without worrying about anything

Every single member of staff we encountered was friendly professional and polite They ALL bent over backwards to accommodate us all and we felt so welcomed it was a refreshing change to feel that our custom was so appreciated

It really is the little things that make a big impression on a customer and make a customer want to return We were treated like royalty that day

We will return and I'll be booking again to come back and see you all again very soon

Thanks again from myself and the residents at...

Long review shortened to one sentence. It was nice enough but left a bit disappointed.

The building looks great and is very well maintained. The parking is a bit iffy but there is an overflow and it is clear when it is full. The inside is lovely until I saw all the stuffed animals. They creeped me out and there was not a place you could not see them. The bar area that you stay in when waiting is small and easily crowded. The seating is nice and the best they could probably do in the area they had.

The service was weird because we were a large group we were told to get drinks 15 mins before seating and then basically banned from leaving our area till we were done. This was based on making it easier to pay at the end. Not all the food came out correctly which often happens for a large group. We were also given a time limit and basically thrown out the door when we nearly missed it due to our courses not coming out particularly quickly. There was also a big thing about a cake and allergens but our wrong order was based on an allergy so we certainly saw a bit of irony. Overall it was a bit muddled and not planned quite well enough.

The food was nice enough but not to the standard that was implied by the cost. We were a large group so pre ordered. I ordered the soup of the day. I never found out what it was but I think it was a spicy tomato and red pepper soup with a balsamic glaze. It was bland but spicy. Not overly warm and there was no butter with the bread. It was okay. For a main I had roast lamb with seasonal veg. The veg was all raw, which I don't really mind, the roast potatoes were great and the lamb was slightly over cooked. Again it was okay. For dessert I had an apple crumble with custard. It was basic and not fully warmed up. Again it was okay, probably my least favourite course. My general point is that the food was not quite good enough for the price and the things that were wrong were easily correctable.

I left the place thinking what a shame. It could have been great but small things let them down in every area. The leaving was also...

It's a stunning location. The building is gorgeous, too. When we went, it was a beautiful sunny day, so the outdoor area was overflowing. We had a table booked and wjen we arrived we werent allowed to be seated without the whole of our party,(only 3 people missing of 7) that is somewhat understandable but while seated outside it took 20 minutes for 4 cokes and a shandy to be brought 3 meters from the door. When we eventually were seated, we placed our starter and mains order, received the starters after a reasonable 20 minutes, but mains took around 2 hours. No one explained to us there was a long wait on food and we ordered drinks several times waiting for the food and 2 times of that we had drinks missing and had to remind the staff we had asked for something. When the food eventually came, one of the meals (a roast) was cold. It was tried on the meat and a potato. The plate of food was clearly microwaved and given back as the potato was still missing a piece, although it had been turned round, so it looked like a new plate at a glance. Also, the yorksire puddings were burnt, and no soft bits remained inside.

The wagyu burger was just average, in regards to the fish and chips, you could get better in a standard chippy, the garlic bread was not garlic at all and the mushrooms on toast was a soggy mess. The food was basically the same as a harvester, but without the salad bar and the childrens menu was an activity sheet... that did not come with crayons or pencils to complete said activities.

Didn't help that another table next to us came more than half an hour after us and received starters and mains before we got our mains. Another table came after we asked for our cheque and received their food before we received our cheque.

While the outside was a delight, the food was such a disappointment, I doubt I'd return for food. Outside drinks on a nice summer day would...
