Had a lovely stay in one of their family rooms. I was very impressed with the size of the room and the bathroom. We were away from the main building with our own front door and parking right outside. As there were 5 of us my husband and eldest son stayed in a twin room in the main building, this was also lovely although the floor was slightly wonky but this added to its charm. We arrived quite late on a Saturday night, just before 10pm. Checking in was quick and easy and once settled we visited the bar for a quick drink. Despite it being a Saturday the bar was quite quiet. Breakfast the following morning was lovely. All cooked food is made to order and the servings are very generous. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were great and very accomodating. We stayed here as a stop over on our way to Wooky Hole so didn't get to see much of the surrounding area but we did use the 24hr drive thru McDonalds conviently located just down the road. We all agree that this was one of the best places we have stayed and would like to...
Read moreTerrible shower!! Needs fixing (this has been reported)
We stayed with friends at the Sparkford Inn in Room 9 (3 girl friends). We came back from a day at the beach and all one wants is a good shower to remove all the cream and salt etc. The shower was very dangerous: it went from boiling hot water to freezing cold, with no ways to adjust it and very low pressure: trickling water.
It was the worst shower I have taken in my life and I spent at least 25 minutes trying to go from burning hot water to ice cold. I am very sensitive to cold too, so it was very hard.
And what if we wanted to wash our hair? Absolutely IMPOSSIBLE.
This is actually dangerous and a safety hazard as the very hot water could burn you. I have reported this to Management at the Sparkford Inn.
Other than that, the room was clean and big, beds were comfortable and breakfast was enjoyable. This is why I am giving it a 2 star but if not, it would have been 1 star for the terrible...
Read moreA Marstons Inn, the Sparkford Inn is a large, comfortable country village inn with three comfortable bar areas for eating or drinking as well as a restaurant and a function room. Always a friendly welcome and very good service, the ales are well-kept and the food is very well cooked, decent sized portions and very reasonable in price.
We visited again last week - it was quite busy and we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Ringwood Best and Forty-niner were both in excellent condition. Third ale was EPA. My wife had steak and I had a mixed grill - which were huge, very well cooked and excellent value for money. My wife's only complaint (it's compulsory for her to have at least one) was that her side salad was too 'ordinary'. Two steak dinners, two desserts, two pints of ale and a bottle of sparkling wine all for £52 - bargain. We'll certainly be back. Well...
