Spice - Flitwick's Premier Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in England

Of the three of the four Indians in Flitwick that I've eaten at multiple times, (I haven't tried the Bollywood Lounge), Spice has the best food in my opinion and it's where I get takeaways from.

As a restaurant to eat it, it doesn't have a licence and is Bring Your Own (with no corkage charge) which makes for a cheap meal out if that is what you are after. It can get busy on a Friday and Saturday night - I would definitely recommend a reservation. It is also quite noisy those evenings - not a place to have a quiet conversation, and I've had a couple of times when the service has been painfully slow (an hour plus waiting for our main course after we had finished starters). So I'm not sure I would necessarily recommend wholeheartedly for those evenings - I prefer the Drover's Arms in Steppingley if you are after a more romantic/quieter night out, which also has very good food. Wouldnt really recommend this place. I'm new to the area and thought I'd give this place a try.

This is your typical run of the mill 'indian' where all of the sauces are coconut based, and everything tastes sweet. For a name like Spice, it does not live it to its name at all. Even the naan tasted sweet. Nothing like what Indian food actually is like (an insult, to be frank). This place is basically a click bait of Indian restaurants (unfortunately there are quite a few of these which taint what good Indian food tastes like).

The look and colour of dishes look heavily artificial. My butter chicken was yellow (I mean yellow pepper, yellow).

I know that there are a few good Indian restaurants in and around Bedford and Luton. But I am completely new to Flitwick and thought I'd give this place a try since its local; and I'm sure there are other, better Indian restaurants around Flitwick, but this is my honest review of this...

Although the food was nice we had awful customer service. When we came to leave I asked to take away the rest of my food (half my main and over half my naan) the server said "oh but we're very busy" - I don't understand what that's got to do with putting my food into a box? I explained that I'd like to take away both main and naan and then he piled up plates ontop of my naan! Didn't seem to understand why I then said not to worry with that part! We were also charged for our drinks (3 bottles that we brough in ourselves) when on the website it states they don't charge for corkage! The server also didnt listen when we split the bill to pay and put the wrong amount on one of the cards.

The food was nice, but the service really put me off...
