What a Gem!!!!
Like a little slice of Italy nestled in the North Yorkshire countryside.
We had been holidaying here as a family all week and wanted to have a special dinner out on the last evening. When I researched what was about we found 'The Bistro' just a mile from our holiday cottages and the recent reviews where glowing. I booked an early evening table for the four of us.
The moment we arrived we were greeted with warm friendly service from the lovely gentleman owners. We were informed any meal could be served as a half portion for our young boys.
The food was absolutely delicious, authentic, homemade, and ample portions!
My son couldn't finish his pizza which was kindly boxed up for us to take home with us.
This is a kind of establishment is a find, it's not often you experience this kind of service and food and the atmosphere was buzzing and customers kept coming in constantly while we were there, which has to be a good sign.
The service was so attentive and the Gentleman were having fun with our boys and making them laugh. It was a pleasant change from the starchy irritable service that seems to be common practice these days, or worse still being ignored or made to wait ages for everything!
We sat in the delightful conservatory which was the perfect temperature on this chilly British summer eve, and in better weather I imagine the patio beyond this would be lovely to enjoy the meal on, and inside looked equally nice.
I understand this is fairly recent as an establishment, and I hope it continues to keep receiving rave reviews as it really is worth 10 stars not 5, and I highly recommend a visit here if you are in the area!
Thank you for a lovely last evening of our holiday...
Read moreA very warm welcome was given to our party of 12, (7 adults and 5 children), on the Sunday lunchtime that we visited. We had a very nice table in the conservatory and given plenty of time to settle in and then to order. The service was quick and all our meals came out together, hot and very nice starters which we were all pleased with. We had a couple of mishaps with spills but we needn't have worried, as the waiters were quick to help and make things right, even replacing the 1/2 bottle of wine with a new one. Everyone was pleased with their choice of main dishes, colourful and presented beautifully, and very tasty. The smaller children were a little restless so went out to the courtyard and played, which the staff didn't seem to mind which was nice of them. The adults were all full so it was just the children who had the dessert. There was more to come though because the waiters were aware that it was a joint celebration of a 40th and 70th birthday .... just as the strains of Happy Birthday came over the sound system, the waiters arrived with a dessert each with candles to wish us a Happy Birthday! The dessert was lovely which was shared with the children! We all agreed that it had been a lovely first experience at Spofforth Bistro and will certainly like to come again. Thank...
Read moreThe Spofforth Bistro offers a wide selection of Mediterranean dishes. We chose the two courses from the a la carte menu; mushrooms, arancini , lasagna and nduja tagliatelle. Additional side vegetables were fresh and beautifully cooked. We were given a warm welcome and the staff are at pains to make you feel your custom is valued. An all round excellent eating experience ; great value and quality food. We look forward to trying out the monthly Indian menu. If it's of the same standard we are in...
