I feel I need to respond to a couple of reviews on here as a member of staff Unfortunately, Bardon Mill has had a few setbacks the past few months staffing wise and this has unfortunately created a lot of pressure on existing staff so before you go to condem us to hell please take in mind that other things may be going on that is beyond our control

While it used to be a favourite stop on the A69, each visit is now disappointing. While the staff is friendly, it seems that there are always multiple menu items unavailable, the Café inside and outside a disgrace. On top of that, paying for massively overpriced drinks and food (which is not the shop’s fault). I won’t rush to go back any more.

It's a great place to stop off for a break if you are travelling East to West across the A69 (Newcastle to Carlisle) The staff are always friendly & helpful. The Coffee & Cakes are always good. We think it has one of the best views of any 'Starbucks' coffee shop ! Looking across the A69 towards the beautiful Northumbrian hills !

We stopped here for a coffee and quick bite to eat. We have passed this place many times before and will make a point to pass it by in future. When trying to pay we were told that the staff were not allowed to accept £50 notes, so we switched to digital payment. A sandwich we ordered was piping hot with molten cheese dripping out of it ( it was sold as a toastie but it was really more of a 'grillie' as the bottom of the sandwich doesn't get toasted at all. Due to the hot molten cheese we asked for a knife to cut the sandwich. "Sorry, we've run out of knives" came the reply. We spoke to the duty supervisor who apologised and told us that they do have a scanner to check banknotes, and that they could and should have accepted our £50 note, and that they should have knives available. He offered to reimburse the cost of our food, but we declined - we were not complaining to get a freebie. The supervisor then gave us 2 vouchers for a free coffee at any branch. Before continuing our journey we went to use the toilets. The ladies facilty was filthy with the toilet rolls kept on the floor, while the gents was also filthy. This place is quite simply badly managed,...

As a local resident, I made my first ( and LAST) visit to this site. I arrived at 2.15 ( Wednesday 1st Nov) with a friend . I purchased a couple of drinks and snacks and found a seat. The cafe was about a third full. I noticed three vacant tables with used cups and plates. Within 10/15 mins , several customers had left leaving four more vacant tables full of more used cups and saucers, making seven tables in all in the same state. Several minutes later, two separate groups of customers came in and had to clear their own tables before using them. We left after 50 mins and not one table had been cleared, and by this time there were two more. In one corner there were three members of staff sitting together , having a meeting or a break.......!!

I work in a similar industry, and I am disgusted and surprised that a brand new smart cafe could be aloud to be managed in this way........

Not a great...

Its not my first port of call for a coffee as i do frequent another coffee house but i was in the area and knew it was there and did need a caffiene fix and a snack, so a medio americano with pouring cream didnt have to ask about the amount she was already putting a small vessel for me to fill as required and a 5 cheese toastie just short of amazing content to relax in a lovely lounge seat watching the world go by and the customers just flowed in and out as if they were out collecting milk and bread from the corner shop it may have not been my favourite coffee tipple but it was definately the next best thing and of course as people who know me if i agree on a place and say i will call again then i surely will a thank you to the very pleasant staff on the day the toastie and coffee were a great comfort and a...
