Strawberry — Restaurant in England

We had a booked a table over a month ago as my friend was coming over to England from the Cayman Islands for a group of 7-10 people who were coming from all over. Only 7 of us were going to eat. The day of the booking my friend received an email cancelling the booking with no explanation. My friend rang and was told it was because they only had one person in the kitchen and we probably couldn't sit together!! This was a Monday night. When I arrived I could see reserved signs on a few tables and the staff obviously knew the people. The lass behind the bar was very unhelpful and the manager was quite rude as well, until I showed my friends and family discount email then they were all smiles and couldn't do enough. We had no preconceived ideas about the pub other than that a good friend suggested having lunch there and he has good taste.

It is a big pub with lots of areas to sit. We didn't pre book for lunch but were looked after.

The food menu is quite expansive and also really affordable. We made the most of the offers. The chicken katsu curry with chips and rice was divine. There was plenty on the menu for everyone.

The range of drinks were good too and they served real ale in handled jugs which I think added to the whole drinking experience.

The staff were really friendly and very efficient.

The pub was clean and the atmosphere was laid back. There was music being played through the sound system and there was live sport being showed on TV screens. But because the pub was so big, this was all very incidental.

Ordered food and drink on the app, food came cold, I ordered drinks at the same time and they didn’t come, I had to go up to the bar even tho I ordered it to my table, they give me attitude when I went saying it wasn’t ready even though no one was at the bar at that point, the bald man with glasses and the red hair with glasses both had an attitude, wasn’t appropriate what they said, when I eventually got the drinks, I had to go up to the bar and he id us for a second time when he could clearly see we had drinks before and been Id by them already ,baldy was rude when I was collecting them again, overall experience very poor and very disappointing as it is my local, will not be having food again from there till it’s sorted and the bar have some respect for there customers, terrible and very...
