Always clean. Staff are nice. Never too long to wait. Meals are good value and recent updates appear appetising whilst retaining the faithfuls. Great place. We are house hunting. There are some properties for sale nearby - I have not even considered these - I would never be out of the Vic.
Visited again mid-week for a late lunch. Not busy so hardly any wait for anything. So reliable, you know what you are ordering and The Vic never disappoints. Lady in the Bar is lovely as is the Chef. Lady is going to a new job soon, she will be a loss, but Good Luck.
Another lovely meal with perfect staff. A bit busier than usual but we were later than we normally are. Football was also due on. Menu has changed slightly so more delights to sample. The Stella is also kept extremely well.
Consistently good value. Veggie options are extremely limited but it is the Menu of Greene King so out of the staff's control. Staff are brill.
Another visit this week. I have to say the quality of the meals has declined. The quorn buttermilk burger was overcooked on one side, to the point of being so hard you could not cut or bite it. The other side was undercooked. On a previous visit, the vegan fish was the same. I don't know if there has been a change of chef but given the lack of vegetarian options, it is extremely disappointing. We go quite often as we visit Barrow for appointments quite regularly and, whilst the staff are still great, it is clean and welcoming, we will be seeking elsewhere if there is no improvement.
Stars reduced for food.
The new menu is due soon so we will...
Read moreTraditional popular 'local' pub. Reasonably priced food based upon a typical pub menu. Plenty of food choice although not too many veggie/vegan options. Most people will be able to find something they enjoy on the menu though. Quick service from helpful pleasant staff. Online Greene King app is also available but its use didn't seem to be actively promoted within the pub. Food was tasty. Snooker room was a busy focal point for socialising. Separate restaurant and bar rooms, which gives a more vibrant area for drinking and a quieter place for eating. Friendly staff made us feel welcome. However, my only criticism is ...don't visit if you are wary of Covid or you are vulnerable. During my particular visit on a busy 'Mad Friday' afternoon, the pub was packed with people, yet not a single mask in sight as people moved around. I saw one older man arrive wearing a mask and, while stood at the door, he hesitantly removed it after looking around and noticing that nobody else was wearing one ('when in Rome, do as the Romans do'). Very little in the way of precautions such as divider screens or placing orders from table only. Apart from that,...
Read moreHighly recommend. Went for tea tonight with my two boys. I was really flustered as my son with ADHD and autism was being a royal pain, but the girl who works there, Leanne, was great, she really helped me settle in and helped my son get in his chair (because by this point I'd given up) she went above and beyond for us as a family and I can't thank her enough! The food was absolutely delicious 😋 my son had a build your own burger and it was one of the best burgers he's had by far! I had steak, and AGAIN, Leanne went above and beyond for me to make sure I got my steak cooked to my liking. My other son had the senior special (two courses for £5.49) 😲 he had an all day breakfast, and a chocolate brownie with ice cream. He ate the lot! All round we were all super happy with our meals! Highly recommend for all round...
