wonderful place, nice outdoor seats and loads available. The inside is just as lovely, spacious, clean and love how it all blends together. There is a good parking space beside the pub so not a problem. outside is just lovely with the church just accross the street.
update: Booked for a lunch there since my kids really want to tr the food. We were there early at 11:15 so we waited for the lunch menu which would start at 11:45, we ordered by then. Around12:10 another group seated accross us, and the kid's garlic bread was served. So we just waited giving consideration to whatever there is. 12:30ish, thr group seated accross us had their orders served, 12:45 I was already not in the mood at all, I approached one of the staff and asked if thet had plans in ever serving our order or the 2nd garlic bread that we ordered for the kids and perhaps they just cancel it and we will just leave and find some other place to eat, and how come the peoplesested accross us had theirs first, I was told that there was only 1 cook and sandwoches are made in advance. Few minutes after the 2nd garlic bread came, and they informed us that our order will be there in 5 to 10minutes. exacty 1:02, for MORE THAN AN HOUR OF WAITING, our orders came piping hot, clearly they only did our food then. We were just utterly starving and was not in a good mood. All the while then, other staff was so attentive to the other tables and were ingoring us. where we had to call one guy passing by us to follow up our dessert.. We love eating and trying out pubs and restos, and we're quite considerate especially if it's crowded. But this is the first time I ever encountered this and I have no words to describe it. Food wouldn't matter by then, being treated/neglected like that and having that service is...
Read moreThe first time we came to The Swan was really enjoyable, but when we came the second time (last Sunday) we were so disappointed. We booked a table at 5:30 pm for Sunday dinner which should not be late enough in the evening to run out of some of the food they had ran out of. We were not told before we ordered that they had no cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings or even milk left for hot drinks, so when our food came after waiting 45 minutes it was so disappointing. We wouldn’t have ordered the meal if we knew beforehand there were no Yorkshire puddings. We were given half a carrot, half a parsnip, cold carrot mash, roast potatoes, one tiny ball of stuffing, and very poor quality beef. Someone in our party complained that the £19 on the bone beef roast dinner they ordered was pure fat. The quality of the food in comparison to the price they were charging was shocking. Also not one member of staff came over to see how our food was. The waitress serving us was also so rude. She was rolling her eyes at most of the tables she was serving, including us, and we overheard the table next to us also complaining about her being unfriendly. I also made a complaint to another member of staff about the food quality and we were offered free deserts. However, the only desert I liked on the menu was the vanilla cheesecake which was only served as a mini desert with a hot drink. As they had no milk for hot drinks, the waitress said they couldn’t just give me the mini cheesecake as it had to come with the hot drink, even though I said to her that I am not bothered about the hot drink, I just don’t like the other deserts on the menu.
Overall we won’t...
Read moreMy Wife and I Chose The Swan on Wednesday 23rd July 2025 to celebrate our 42nd Wedding anniversary and unfortunately we had a disappointing evening with you. Our server Andrea was the only redeeming part of our experience. Andrea took our drinks order swiftly and efficiently and returned a few minutes later to take our food order. So far so good. After approximately 10 minutes and without any prompt from us, Andrea came back to apologise about the length of the wait for our drinks and promised to chase them up for us. We were shocked that 10 minutes later (20 minutes after ordering) the food arrived, we found this was an acceptable timescale in which to receive our food, however, we still hadn't received our drinks. At this point I raised my concern and within less than a minute the drinks arrived with an apology and was told the reason was due to the bar being very busy . This is the first time in many years of dining that we have ever got our drinks seved after our food. Onto the meal. My wife had Toad in the hole and I had Salmon fishcake. The bubble and squeak consisted of warmed up mashed potato and raw cabbage, Yorkshire pudding was flat, the gravy was overly thick, however, the sausages were very nice. The fishcake was over cooked with little salmon contained within it, the salad had no dressing, although the potatoes were very tasty. We declined a desert as by this time we'd had enough. We didnt complain as it wasn't Andrea's fault and we didn't want to waste anymore time on our anniversary. Unfortunately we will not be returning which is a shame as you have a lovely venue at the Swan. Gordon and...
