Simply fantastic tea rooms. Great example of a very British experience, in an immensely impressive, imposing, old stately home and large estate. The tea room itself is in a very, very old room that is adjacent to the old chapel. No fake reproduction work here, it's genuinely hundreds of years old. Amazing staff, Good menu, and properly brilliant food that's fantastic value for money. The outdoor scenery is utterly astonishing. Staggeringly hard to beat the views ANYWHERE. The tea rooms themselves could use a little bit of decluttering in some spots, but it's charm outweighs those little nit picking points... The only negative is the drive into site. First off, Google maps is WRONG(I've let them know) you can NOT turn in via the a556. The only entry is via a5033. No matter what car you have, go very slow. It's an AWFUL surface from entry to car park. Use the road signs for the tea rooms, Google will just send you up a creek otherwise..... If you have a decent car, especially a low slung fast sports car, go ULTRA SLOW and pay attention. If so it's fine, otherwise make sure you take gloves and incontinence underwear.. you will need to hide the stark white knuckles, and what will definitely be shooting out, as you drive over a model of the grand canyon - courtesy of the pot hole gnomes who have been hard at work turning the driveways into terrifying car destruction devices... It's also only 1 car wide, with cow grids, so make sure your passengers are chanting gothic prayers to the car gods that you don't run into anyone, or you will be stuck, or worse reversing through the pothole playpit.. be sensible and slow, and you will be fine... Highly...

Having seen the signs for tea rooms at a grand sounding Tabley hall we followed the signs saying open from March, through the archway at the gatehouse and up the single track road. The road appears to be one way as it's so narrow but we were met with one massive pothole after another and it's quite a lengthy road. Unable to turn round we had to continue and felt very unsafe in our small Peugeot. When we got to the empty car park area we managed to turn round and follow what we presumed was the exit route, a continuance of the road back to the main road. That was even worse, raised middle of the road scraping the car, huge potholes everywhere, it was the worst road we have ever been on, we eventually managed to drive through what looked like an abandoned farmyard and get back to the main road. If this place is closed as I now see it says on the review sites why are the signs advertising it's open, why is it open for you to drive in with that utter nightmare of a road. It really needs sorting out it's just not safe or fair to people thinking there's a tea rooms open there and getting trapped...

The lady who runs this place couldn’t have been more helpful or lovely, both in advance of coming with my disabled mother, and in terms of helping her when she was there. The afternoon tea was excellent - brilliant value for money and delicious homemade cakes and sandwiches. The building itself and the surrounding grounds are spectacular. Well worth a visit- we will certainly be going back. Thank you for a...
