This random looking restaurant looks more like a truck drivers cafe then somewhere that’s offering a modern take on a British favourite. It’s takeaway menu has plenty to offer, you can get your old faithfuls as well as trying out some of their own concoctions. I chose to keep it simple with a lamb Bhuna so that I may judge it fairly against its competitors. I also ordered a chilli and garlic naan bread and something called a chicken Tak-a-tak because how do you not order something called that? They predicted it would take 45 mins, very acceptable considering the current climate, however it took 1hr 20mins, still not an issue but could’ve given us a heads up. The driver was nice and apologised. The food comes in separate containers and is labelled clearly so you can tell what each dish is without having to open them, nice touch. BUT... my tak-a-tak was missing. Jesus. I didn’t know what to do. Who do you call when your tak-a-tak goes missing? I tell you who, Tawa. They were extremely apologetic, they must have put it in someone else’s order by mistake. They offered to cook another and deliver it immediately or we could have a refund. I chose the latter. I had already started eating and could tell I wouldn’t need it as the Mrs was kind enough to share her Aloo Saag. We will also get a discount on our next order. So on to the food... The chilli and garlic naan had the right amount of flavour but could maybe have been in the oven for 1 more minute, was still good. The Aloo saag was good. The Lamb tikka bhuna... my ultimate favourite dish. The pressure was on for them to pull off this dish. Just from the site of it I could tell this was going to be slightly different. It had spring onion and chopped tomatoes on top. This created a very fresh tasting dish. The lamb was nice the sauce was good and mixed well. It could have been slightly spicier but wasn’t a deal breaker. Overall I enjoyed it. Probably the best curry I’ve had since being in Wixams. Maybe even my second favourite curry ever. I’ll be interested to try other stuff from the menu as the chef is clearly talented. I’m giving Tawa an 8/10 because how can you give top marks without...
Read moreThis was our second time ordering from Tawa, after a very successful first order. Our second experience was AWFUL. We ordered our food at 7.30pm with a delivery time of 8.45. At 8.45 the food hadn't arrived so my husband called to chase it up and was told that it had left with the driver and we just had to wait. 30 minutes later we still didn't have our order so i called again (now 9.15) and got a very rude man on the phone who said to me "your food has left, I don't know what more you want me to say to you, you'll just have to wait", despite being told 30 minutes ago it was on its way and we only live 7/8 minutes away. The man then rudely cut me off whilst I was speaking to him. My husband then rang them back and the same rude man can be heard passing the phone over to someone else as he clearly didn't want to deal with us after being so rude. The man told us again that the food was on its way and offered no other resolution. We waited 10 minutes and called back again, now 9.30pm, 2 hours after ordering our food and 45 minutes after our delivery time. As we did so, a delivery driver turned up with our order. We explained the situation and he apologised for the lateness and blamed the kitchen. On opening the food half of it was cold, having been sent out to us an hour ago at this point. I had ordered a side of fries and they were literally wet where they had been sitting sweating for so long, they were absolutely vile. So disappointed after our first experience was so good, Tawa restaurant have really let themselves down. We weren't offered any remuneration for our experience despite spending £200 across 2 orders and won't be using them...

I'll start with the positives. The curry dishes were tasty, spiced well and with fresh ingredients.
This is the second time we've ordered takeaway and the first occasion was poor. We gave it nearly 2 years and tried again. This is what happened.
Now, bearing in mind I live less than 5 minutes away (I know, lazy), I placed my order at 1730 ish. Website states 60 minute wait. Ok, I can deal with that..order placed. Email confirmation then adds a further 30 minutes, ok, I can deal with that.
Nearly two hours later our food arrives and I'm mildly irritated. Delivery driver was cheery enough though, smashing, let's get to dinner...oh...items missing.
Call the restaurant and met by a chap who is also taking an order on a other line and asks me to wait. After I've explained the issue, the chap decided to offer me the value off my next order.
I then felt the meals for warmth and they were all luke warm. I mean, the curry was the hottest out of the bunch, but not by much. Samosas, rice, naan, all luke warm.
By this point and explaining the food was luke warm, the chap then decided to say that I was effectively lying and that all of the food leaves piping hot. Ermmm...no. Its far from it. Phone down.
Microwave 60 second 'ping' later and I return to my original statement.
So, in conclusion, this restaurant has a great reputation to uphold and can create flavourful and tasty meals, just not by delivery.
If you want your reputation to continue, stop turning out delivered meals which leave your customers disappointed, thats if they actually have all of their order actually arrive in the...
